Workout the day before a game

What's the best workout (or lack thereof) for a day before a competitive game that involves lots of running around (like soccer or ultimate)? Traditionally, I take that day off, but that's probably due to laziness as much as anything else. What can I do that won't cause soreness/fatigue to keep me from doing my best? If you are going to play a competitive sport (and presumably you want to win), do you run, and if so, how far and how hard? And do you lift, do plyometrics, etc.?

Some of the competitive coaches can chime in here, but I think the conventional wisdom is to do a light workout the day before. Very light running, maybe some very light weights. Enough to keep flexibility, but not enough to fatigue you. I don't think any cardio is needed the day before.
