Working out how much

I ride a stationary bike 45 min every day,no days off i do 10 miles. Is that okay?I am 52 and wondering how much should i do.I want to take Karate and the course is twice a week for a hour each day.Seems this is not enough to learn anything,is it?I will get in the gym on the first of March to lift weights along with the bike work.Is this sane and okay.I am in fair shape.15 lbs over weight, other wise i am good to go.

Im starting martial arts which is 3x a week for 45 minutes each time. Do you enjoy riding that much on the bike?

I would incorporate HIIT into your bike workout (mix in some running too), and do it for 20min. Try to get a day of rest at least. I have the same problem, I want to workout every day.
That should go well when you start lifting as well.

I would say 2 hours a week of karate is ok, depending on the price...

Read the HIIT fAQ if you have not already.

I would definetly recomend not doing that everyday because you will burn off all your muscle. if you are looking to lose weight you need to keep your muscle mass because it forces your body to work harder.Secondly, i wouldn't waste that much time on cardio because one it's not that effective for weight loss(you never stated if you were looking to lose weight, but the comment about 15 pounds over weight kind of implied it to me that you were interested in weight loss)and two you can simply do HIIT cardio sessions that cut a normal cardio session in half. The benefits of HIIT training are endless, and also, read around the forum about dieting.
