Word Up

Hello everyone,

I started my quest back to fitness about 1.5 years ago. It's been really fun so far but I'm looking to step it up to the next level beginning right NOW!

About 1.5 years ago my weight was 283 pounds with a 44 inch waist! Today I am happy to report my weight is down to 214 with a 33 inch waist! Yes!!!

My goals were accomplished by becoming dedicated to where I wanted to be as this consisted of weight lifting, changing some eating habits and doing cardio sometimes 6 days a week.

Spin classes really helped me to burn some fat.

I predict 2006 is going to be my year as I look to grow even more!

Peace out,

Al Ferguson

Hey
well done and good luck :)

Thanks everyone! What I'm working on now is building muscle mass. During my weightloss phase, I lost valuable muscle tissue and strength due to doing so much cardio. I think it was a good trade off because I got my weight down and shrunk my body fat levels. Of course doing alot of cardio will deplete your recovery time especially if you're lifting at the same time! Trust me my cardio routine was a killer.

It consisted of spin cyling on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and on many occassions(sp) I added elliptical training after spinning. Mind you I was lifting during that time too.

The plan now consist of cutting back the cardio to twice a week and focus on rebuilding muscle. Of course my diet will have to change to something called "clean bulking".

By that I mean I will have to eat clean while increasing my protein and carb intake that will allow me to add intensity when I lift. Also, due to the fact my cardio days will be dramatically decreased I will really have to monitor my weight. I don't mind gaining a few additional pounds but it must be muscle instead of fat!

Peace out!

Al
