I keep hearing that if you don't eat then your body will just hold onto the fat and you won't lose any weight but then how come people who are anorexic get so skinny?!

They may get thin but they lack muscle tone, the ability to consintrate, are dehydrated and can't enjoy their thinness as they see themselves as being overweight. The medical issues are enormous for those who starve themselves. loose weight the safe and healthy way for a long and healthy life. :D
 
People who are anorexic, before getting skinny, do severe damage to their organs and tissues. By the time they are that skinny, they've literally eaten their bodies from the inside out.
 
People who don't eat enough, slow down their metabolism and when they overeat, the food that they eat doesn't break down. The fat from those foods are stored in their body because their body thinks that it will be starved again. By not eating anything at all, you will not only lose your hair and energy but you will also starve your brain. A well balanced diet will keep you alert, healthy and also energetic. Along with exercise, you will achieve your weight goal.
 
Notice how no one actually answered the question. Even though all of that stuff happens, they still aren't fat so the statement that your body holds onto the fat is false. End.
 
It holds onto fat at first. But once your body has burned through your muscles, then it has to move onto something else, doesn't it? Fat. Bingo.

I think that you will find that alot of people who are anorexic, exercise alot too and that is why they don't have fat on them....after all the fat is gone thats when the body starts to have major problems looking for energy to sustain it....in other words they don't sit around waiting for their next calorie hit...they are busy burning off what they just ate and maybe more.

No it is not false. If you starve your body will hoard every calorie and sacrifice your muscle first. Eventually it will, under duress, finally burn off fat. It will hold onto fat as long as it can. Survival mechanism.

If you really want to freak your body out, lift weights until muscle failure. It'll think: "I needed to lift that to survive and I COULDN'T !!" and it'll build muscle. Survival mechanism use it to your advantage not disadvantage.

If anorexic people eat anything after becoming all skinny, they will gain weight quickly because their metabolism is screwed up.

It's a true and false statement. Your metabolism will slow down as a preservative measure so will burn less fat and require less calories to run on. It'll eat your muscles first, which will slow your metabolism down too cause muscle burns more than fat. Then yes, it will move on to fat and you'll get thinner. But by then you already need very few calories and you are drained all the time. I can show you a pic if you want. I suffered from an ED fornearly 10 years. I began my recovery when I got pregnant. I knew I needed to eat for the baby. Make no mistake, it wasn't a large amount. a small bowl of cereal for breakfast, a salad with fat free dressing for lunch. 4 triscuits and fat free cheese slice for snack and small dinner. 20lbs I gained in about 9 weeks. I'm not quite sure how I was surving prior to that as aside from getting a snack here or there, all my calories came from beer pretty much. Got saved and got better. But it's a hellish road I wish on no one. I use to know the cal count in everything, couldn't take even 1 bite of food without stressing and would immediately feel fat bubbling up under my skin. Or so I thought. There's better, more lasting and deffinantly more healthy ways to lose wieght. ED's only lead to sickness and self hatred.
 
Just because someone is skinny, doesnt mean they are healthy! Not eating=muscle detioration=fat burn=disaster
