Women's One a Day Active Metabolism

Hi! I'm new to the forum.

I'm 20 years old, 5'2", and weigh about 137. I've been trying to lose weight for 6 months now but haven't been very committed to it. I've started again this week and have been doing very well, tacking my diet on thedailyplate.com and making sure my sodium, sugar, fat, and cholestrol intake is as low as possible.

But since I was looking to help improve my success by taking a vitamin that would help boost my metabolism (and give me more energy) I found women's one a day active metabolism. Is anyone else here trying this vitamin and does it help them? Not help them (as in there are side-effects) ? or no effect?

I'd love to hear some diet tips as well. I am keeping to a 1,500 calorie diet in order to lose weight (calculated on thedailyplate.com) I'm doing exercises everyday, weight-lifting every other day, and have yet to start on real cardio (running, jump roping, stepping, bicycling) Because I hate cardio, does anyone have advice?

If your not committed you need to look at the reasons why? Are you aware of the health inplications of being over weight? Pills are not the answer, working hard in the gym is the answer and looking at why your over eating is a must.

Taking a multivitamin is not going to help with weight loss. Any metabolic advantage you get is going to be so small as to be immeasurable.

Diet is the biggest key to losing weight. At your height and current weight, 1500 calories is going to be on the high end of what you can east and still lose. I'd say closer to 1300 would be a better amount for you.

Also eating as little fat as possible is not healthy. Your body needs some fat - healthy fats - in order to function. Some vitamins and minerals require available fat in order to be properly absorbed. You should be getting about 20%-25% of your diet from healthy fats - things like olive oil, nuts and seeds, avocados, peanut or almond butter, etc.

I'd suggest reading the sticky threads in the forum and especially reading the thread in the exercise area called "the Conceptual Side of Weight Lifting" if you want to get real solid information on how to properly lift weights for fat loss.

Thank you for the responses and advice. I did not realize that good fats were THAT necessary--I probably should have, given all the research that I've been doing--but thank you for pointing that out to me.

I am committing to my diet now, even more. My adjusted calorie intake is around 1,300 and I have started my cardio on an eliptical rather than running (since concrete hurts my knees and most grassy areas are wet right now).

Thanks again!

I totally understand.

Hello!

I've been taking women's one a day active metabolism for about 3 months. It's been working out well, I take it in the morning after breakfast before I go to the gym for my zumba class.

I'm only 19, and it's working out great for me. It makes me feel energized, and keeps me going, I also feel less heavy and groggy and more into my work out, thus burning more calories.

Pros:

Makes you feel light and airy

Metabolism and breast health

Energy

You take in a whole plethora of other vitamins you need, in one pill.

Cons:

If not taken after breakfast after your food is digesting, you could get nauseous. I was getting oozy because I was taking it in the middle of the day without much in my stomach. The nausea isn't that bad, but why have it, right?

Take it in the morning about 15 mins after you have breakfast. If the mornings are way too rushed for you, take it after lunch at work, or school.

When it comes to the dieting tips - I'm on the same boat. I'm not committed.

BUT, I have built up some muscle which seems to be burning the fat.

Stay away from white carbohydrates, sugar, and sodium, and remember to take another vitamin because one a day doesn't cover all of them.

As far as one a day, and all the others I take, I'm very healthy, I used to have low iron, and the one a day helped tremendously.

You'll be fine!!!!!!

Good luck!

:hurray:

Hi I am a newbie that gained weight with my first pregnancy and continued to gain for 14 more years now. I especially noticed that being over 40 just makes it harder. Looking forward to hearing everyone's story.

Tell yourself that you love cardio (or the high you get when you are done) and soon it will be true!!
