Sport With too much tuna, comes too much mercury?

Sport Fitness
I have incorporated half a can of tuna into my daily diet. I have been told by a few family members, that there is alot of mercury in tuna, and it shouldnt be eaten every day.

Is this true? Can somebody please shine some light on this subject for me?

Many thanks. :)

Yep, it can be an area for concern.
You shouldn't eat more than 5 cans of chunk light, or 3 cans of white albacore per week.

I'm talking about the average size tins, that contain a little over 2 servings per the label.

Omega-3

I personally eat about 4-5 cans/week. But the benefits of tuna, other than the taste are the omega-3 fatty acids. If you are looking for a good source of omega-3 let me know. Don't just go buy any supplement though because most supplements contain mercury as well.

Hope this helped.

I just use Tuna as a source of protein in my diet. Im still a beginner in the area of diets and weight training. Im not sure about omega-3. Is it ok to eat about 3 cans a week? 425g cans, "Tuna in Springwater" by John West.

Yep, another one (food) bites the dust...I wonder what the heck is safe to eat these days. As far a the Omega oils...I tried a product...from "Health from the Sun"..."Omega 3, 6,9...The Total EFA..Vegetarian formula (is what it says on the label/front). Theres always a "Mock Tuna Salad" recipe. I guess this is not the place to post it so I will shift over to the recipes thread...see ya there.
