Will this be too much running?

I plan to run as soon as I wake up for about 30 mins, then later when the sun is almost down I plan to run again for another 30-40 minutes. This too much running?
 
Are you already a seasoned runner? Are you doing this for fitness, weight loss or training? how much are you currently running now?
 
Seasoned runner means? I run all year. Mainly for fitness. I currently run 30 mins 3 days a week during the afternoon.
 
1.5miles in 10mins is sort of a bench mark for long distance runners.

if you can do that then I would suggest running only 2miles as fast as you can once a day, with a 1day a week rest.

that is best for fat loss and cardio.
if your training for competitive races then you should run the distance your compeating at every 4days with 1mile sprints inbetween the long runs.

running long distance is bad for the body and can cause a lot of damage to the back, knees and ankles. It is far better to sprint offen and get your heart rate up than try to slug out marithons.

I say it just depends on what you are used to and how frequent you intend to keep that twice a day schedule. If you did that 2 times a week. sure, thats fine. Beyond that you may run into overtraining issues. It also depends on your goals. If its for fat/weight loss you'd be much better off doing one sesson of 30 min HIIT which will put you in fat burning mode beyond what a 30 min tempo run would do. If you plan on just doing 2 tempo runs a day (no change in speed) I think thats a waste of time unless you're training for some sort of endurance race . Train smarter, not harder.
IF you are training for something then 2 times a day a few days a week might be appropriate depending on what your training for. For fitness. no, nix it. HIIT is the way to go.
 
Your body needs to rest. If you really want to run twice a day, it has to be 15min sprints (with a short warm up and long cooldown).
If you feel you have to train twice a day then you will need to have a weeks rest every forth week.

I'll keep it to running once a day for 3-5 days. Sometimes in the morning, somestimes in the afternoon, sometimes at night. Although I know it's best to do it right when you wake up, I'd have a hard time sticking with that :x
