Today is the day I'm going to start.

For the last two years I've been working from home and eating from boredom from the isolation and perhaps been subject to middle-aged spread. I am getting tired of the look of shock on other people's faces when they see how much weight I've gained - ouch! Hoping by at least writing things down, I'll face what I've been eating. Looking forward to check out the info and posts on the site. So, here goes....

My food today:

Cup of tea x2
Poached egg on toast
Cappacino
Punnet of tomatoes
Roast lamb and small amount of potatoes
Small piece of roulade dessert
Water

1 hour walk

Okay, so yesterday I looked around the site, and found a free e-book about binge eating that someone recommended. I've looked into it and it seems really good - even helped curb my cravings on day 2 - very thankful for the post.
Today:

3x cups of tea
Water
Cappacino
Prawns
Tomatoes
Tuna
Apple

1xwalk

Hi Wilbur and welcome to the diaries! I like the expression "middle-age spread", which I hadn´t heard before. I´m a bit confused about your food diary though. Is that really all you ate? Cause that could be a bit worrying. Are you doing a fast?
Best of luck, LaMa.

Hi, Wilbur & welcome to the forum. Middle-aged spread :( Unfortunately, it is a thing! :iagree: with LaMa. Is that all you ate yesterday? Do you have much weight to lose? We all have different methods of losing weight in here, but I think most of us agree that slowly is best & making sure you get enough nutrition each day is very important. Welcome to our friendly part of the world :)

Hello Wilbur . I am probably now about 10 days on here and think writing my diary is helping .
Also agree on making sure you eat enough food .
One think I’m noticing too is keeping busy and setting some small goals every dayis keeping me away from snacking .
Good luck and keep it up

Thanks people for your suggestions over the amount of food - it's something that I'll definitely review - I'm thinking adding some more veg will help for starters.
This is the first forum I've ever been on so really touched that anyone's bothered to reply and it's very encouraging to my weight loss. I've been concerned about just getting bigger and bigger for about a year now, and actually the idea to join a forum came to me in the middle of the night.
Today's food:

Toast
3 cups of tea
Cappuccino,
carrots, tomato and omelette
Fish with corn
tiny piece of roulade

I work from home and the first instance of getting stressed sends me straight to the kitchen where all the foods start winking at me and tempting me to indulge!
Wilbur

Having complete access to snacks all day really makes it harder. When I´m at work I don´t even have time to think about snacks most days and even when I´m craving something there usually isn´t anything I can grab. When I´m at home all day, though, it´s a whole ´nother story...
Having enough protein with your meal might help with hunger/cravings, by the way. Fruit and veg are amazing but they alone can´t keep you full.

I'm glad you feel welcome Wilbur. This is a good space.
When I get stressed I start looking for unhealthy snacks, so now I don't have any in the house. Counting calories for a week or so wouldn't be a bad idea. I would be interested to know what you are consuming at the moment. Under-eating will jeopardise your weight-loss goals & your health long-term. I use My Fitness Pal when I need to. Currently, I'm consuming 1400 calories a day. I'm going to switch it around from week to week but won't go under 1200. Are you able to incorporate walking into your day? It's great to alleviate stress.

Wilbur I’m not sure what weight and height you are but I would be on the floor fainted if I only ate that .
Try incorporating some organic peanut butter on your toast and a piece of banana and make sure the bread is whole grain .
Load the fish with salad .
Actually a good tip for your meals . Using a smaller dinner plate have 1/4 protein , 1/4 carbs ( not piled high !) and half salad or veggies .

Today's menu (thanks to lots of suggestions)

3 cups of tea
cappacino
water
2x English muffin
apples
Corn on the cob with salad
Chicken with salad
Walk

and now off to a party - cross fingers I can hold some resolve!

The party was great! Unfortunately they had someone filling up my glass as the party wet and I had a bit more than I intended. Still, I'm back on track today, which is a huge improvement. Also have to add mac and cheese to yesterday's diary.

Kept away from chocolates and biscuits for five days now, which is a massive achievement for me. I don't think I've lost any weight yet, but as everyone says, it's a slow and steady process, so I'm going to keep the faith! At least I've started eating a lot healthier.

Toast
3xcups of tea
cappuccino
Quinoa, egg, bean and avocado salad
Fish stuffed with tomato and olives, salad, rice
water
apples

Okay, so I haven't been good a bout posting regularly, but I have been following my new eating habits. No sugary foods for 3 weeks now (previously binged on them, oh and excluding 3 chocolate truffles on a Saturday night) and I've lost half a stone!!

Excellent! Taking good care of your body is more important tha posting here but we ARE happy to hear the good news :)

Half a stone? :D Well done Wilbur! That is excellent news :) Your food sounds much more nutritious & delicious. Thanks for letting us know the good news. Keep up the good work :)
