Why?

Well let's hear it, why do you do it? Why do you choose a healthy lifestyle? Why do you lift? Why do you do take care of your body?? Be honest :D !!

I lift because it's so addicting. My OFF days are soooooo boring. And I want to get as big as I can get because I'm vain. There, I said it. Plus, it really helps create a healthier body image and boosts self-esteem

I eat well because I feel better when I do. I sleep 9+ hours each night because I'm never the least bit tired during the day. I do cardio to keep my heart & lungs more efficient and healthy; and it really helps with my tennis game and mountain biking and hiking - all 3 activities I'd die w/o. And there's a lot of cancer in my immediate family that I'd like to avoid at all costs.

Your turn!

I do it first and foremost for myself. I want a healthier me. The rest of my purpose is for the attention. I'm an attention whore, I admit it! I want people to say wow he has a nice body! :p

LOL! The truth is coming out! Well I'll answer my own Q... I lift because i like the feeling of being strong, like I'm addicted to power. I'd like to say I exercise and eat right to improve my health, but that is more of a great sideeffect :), I know it sounds bad. Some turned heads at the beach isn't exactly a bad thing either ;) (so you're not alone Shinra)

yeah, I want people do look at me and think "holy cow that girl is ripped/huge/jacked/etc."
Ripped, huge and jacked all at once!?! Anyways Spock, I definatly agree that lifting is addicting.. I'm always wondering if there is anything else I can workout lol :)

I do it because my life is boring and I need something to do when reruns of West Wing arn't on.

Truly for the following reasons (in no particular order):

I looked in the miror and did not like what I saw.
I wasn't strong enough to do something I wanted to.
I lost an arm wrestling competition to my brother.
My wife said I was fat.
I noticed a "double chin" thing.
I got winded playing ball with my friends.
I went to work for my dad (construction) and it was difficult.
I hate asking for help, and kept having to for heavy stuff.
I like to challenge myself.
I wanted to be as good looking as I am smart.
I've never had a slim stomach.
It scares me to think, by the time I have kids I won't be able to play with them.
Some of my friends were doing it, and I'm extremely competetive.
I made a promise to myself.

I'm sure there's more, but those are clearly the most important.

Well i started because i wanted a better body to get the girls to look at me, but now i do it for that and because i love it. I love the feeling of my muscles getting all tight and sore after a workout. I like the feeling of knowing that i'm getting stronger.

I do it for the simple satisfaction of achieving goals. I like the feeling of working towards something or having something spacific to work on. That and im trying as hard as i can to get as big as i can before next football season which is like 3 months from now pretty much so i got a lot of work to do.

I originally started for the same reasons McCarley did. Now I do it to be at my best while umpiring and practicing martial arts. I'm married and my wife doesn't give a damn how I look (she still loves me anyway, her words not mine :D) but I can't deny that turning a few female heads wouldn't make me feel good :)

Not too mention, if I don't I'd just wind up playing too much Xbox :)

I agree with McCarley and Allen all the way :) A couple more notes of mine:

1. I didn't want to become a statistic (60% of American adults are obese, is it?)
2. I think I deserve better
3. I believe one should seek greatness in all facets of life
4. It helps me feel like I'm not wasting my time
5. By learning about a healthy lifestyle, I feel I can be a positive influence on others
6. It helps me make a career out of helping people
7. Endorphines are essentially a legal drug ;)

I got a desk job after college and since I am too cheap to buy new clothes for wearing outside of work I am gonna make sure that the ones I have continue to fit, without parts of me hanging over the top of them. Although my plan has started to backfire as my pants still fit fine but all my shirts and jackets are getting tight across the shoulders.

So basically all about vanity.

because i cant understand why anyone wouldnt choose an active lifestyle...

i originally started lifting my senior year in high school, as recommended by my track coach...once i saw those first results, i was hooked...

Spockafina is a girl?! Never knew that!

Reasons I like to lift:
1. Helps me release anger.
2. It's the only way you look better in the morning
3. I like looking like walking sex!
4. I like it when chicks can't keep their hands off my stomach
5. I REALLY like seeing what my body is capable off
6. I like when kids look up at me and get really quiet and point and tell their parents
thats a "really big guy."
