Sport Why is white bread bad?

Sport Fitness
I currently eat whole wheat bread.

I just checked the nutrition facts on a pack of wonder white bread.

on a 1:1 slice basis comparison of whole wheat to white bread:

White bread had less fat, less carbs, less calores, the protein is also half that of a whole wheat slice, but I don't rely on bread for protein anymore (steamed chicken breast....oh yeaaaa).

Am I missing something here? I only skimmed through the nutrition facts, didn't really pay attention to more details.

Just because it has less of something doesnt make it better, people often look at the calories/fat/protein/carbs of something too often and forget how good or bad it can be for them.

White bread is just pumped up with air...Real bad for you, if you want to learn more just google it, just trust me and stick with the whole wheat :p

has white flour in it which goes straight to the gut...just by taking out white flour products you would see an major improvement in ab definition in 2 weeks

I got some bread that says "Whole Grain White" type of bread instead of the normal Whole Wheat bread (Rents picked it up instead this time I guess.) I can't figure out if it's whole wheat or just white bread.. anyone know?

i think cause white bread increases insulin levels and is harder to break down the sugar from white bread, whole wheat is easier to process and does not spike your insulin levels like white bread. so that's what they say, or that i've heard.

i'd stick to whole wheat.;)

actually, i think whole wheat is HARDER to process, hence why its got higher fiber content. fiber is very hard for the body to break down into usable energy so it just "passes" it, causing in less fat to be stored

For awhile I just ate whole wheat bread because 'I heard' white bread was bad. Now I know its bad because it severly lacks nutrients and raises the blood sugar levels to higher levels leading to possible fat storage.

I believe they "enrich" white bread with the nutrients it loses with processing. But, I think the main difference is the GI of white bread vs whole grain. And I have no idea why white bread being "pumped up with air" would be bad for you, because give you gas if that much air was even ingested.

White bread isn't "bad" for you. You remind me of my boss who thinks most food is bad for you because of one reason or another she's heard or read, which are mostly myths, by the way.

depends on what you mean by "bad". if you mean detrimental to weight loss goals, then yes, it is bad.
