New to the forum guys currently trying to lose weight I've been on the keto diet for a couple weeks has anyone tried it or currently on it? I do the normal jogging and running everyday which is getting old. I picked up a body fat scale not to long ago off Link Removed but progress is very slow but there. Any tips or suggestions that worked for you? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Firstly, there is no single best diet otherwise loosing fat would be easy. The same diet does not suit everybody.

I have been following a keto lifestyle for years, and if done correctly it will assist with loosing fat if that is your goal, or maintaining or building lean muscle if that is your goal. even on keto calories still count.

While some forms of keto are high fat, the high fat version is the least healthy or effective form of keto. A health keto diet will have adequate protein, low carbs from vegetables, and only enough fat to meet your needs. foods like bulletproof coffee do not belong in a healthy keto diet.

I'm on a keto diet and the first 2 weeks are always really slow as your body adjusts, it is also normal to experience some times where you lose a lot of weight in a short period of time and then not lose any weight for a couple of week. I have lost 14kg in about 6 months and i try to be really active. My advice is to try not to get discouraged when you hit points where you aren't losing any weight and just keep going with the diet. I wish you all the best in your journey.

The keto is not for me. I like carbs way too much and trying low-carb always leads me to binging.

I like the DASH diet best but I'm combining it with the Metabolic diet. Right now I haven't been following a meal plan well due to not having the right things in the house but I try to have some of the good foods. I just always remind myself "Something is better than nothing." Like today I had a payday and I had just enough money left for all the ingredients for a big pot of chile. My chile is probably 50% beans (a big mix of them) with lean ground beef, lots of onions and garlic, canned tomatoes, mushrooms, corn, peppers, celery, etc. I'm going to freeze about 7 portions in the freezer for lunches at work on alternate days. Its filling and nutritious, packed with veggies, fibre, spices and protein.

I tried the keto diet, but it's not for me. I bet on good nutrition where protein plays a major role. Carbohydrates and the rest are an addition. Have you ever thought about the Paleo diet?

Raw foods aren't my thing. Even though I've always been a veggie lover, I like my veggies cooked and mixed in with things.

If a diet is going to be longterm it needs to be something I enjoy. I do have hypothyroidism so my metabolism is very slow but I've been slowly adjusting and developing a diet on my own. I am aiming to eat more nutrient-dense foods and less carbs. I would say my major weakness is dairy including ice cream, pudding, cheese, cheesecake, cream cheese based chip dips, cream-based soups, etc.

The diet I've implemented, which I started yesterday is:

Sunday to Wednesday - lower starches, no sweets (baked goods, ice cream, etc.)
1600 calories per day

Thursday to Saturday - regular eating, all foods allowed but watch portion control
no calorie counting, just mindful eating

Some people might think 1600 calories is too high for weight loss but it seems to be the number I need to be at for my body to work properly. Less than that and I'm constantly hungry and tired and I have no energy for exercise

Hi there! I'm glad to be here with you guys! It's great when you feel that you are not alone trying to lose/keep your body health! I'm my personal experience losing weight is not hard or difficult, the hard part comes when you are trying to get used to your new diet, at least it was/is my experience!

Nice to meet you, we'll in touch for sure!

Hey guys I think the number 1 thing to do when losing weight is monitoring your diet. It isn't easy, but really it boils down to how much do you eat vs how much do you burn per day. Keeping track of it with my fitness pal or something will certainly help a lot! Combine it with so aerobic exercise and you're set

After I attended a weight loss course for three months, I lost 8 kilograms. The first week is called clean-up the stomach week. I only ate vegetables and fruits. And I can't eat the fruit which is too sweet (like mango, pineapple, etc.) Because I only ate vegetables, I ate six meals a day. I also drink half a lemon with 300ml water every morning. After 12 days, I have lost 4.6 kg.
From the second week, I start to eat meat or fish with vegetables. Every meal the meat and vegetables ratio is 1:4. It is very effective for me. I think vegetables are very helpful to lose weight.

Like trusylver I follow a Keto lifestyle and steer clients that way too. I've found that I feel best following a keto plan, it works fastest and it's the simplest and easiest to stick to. There's only 2 important factors whichever diet you choose; consistency and time. Some people take longer than others to get into keto and there are a few variations.

I personally suggest you try to take a more holistic view on health. Exercising or even eating right is not enough in itself to make you healthy or even lose weight.

Holistic health involves improving physical-mental- and emotional health.

If one of these is lacking the others will most definitely be lacking. Some people might have metabolisms that allow them to stay skinny, but this does NOT mean they are healthy by any means.

If you have a slower metabolism and find it harder to lose weight, try to view it in the positive light that you are going to have to improve EVERY aspect of your health in order to see results.

THIS might seem daunting but it is also a blessing if you find the discipline to change your lifestyle.

Hope this sheds some light on a new view you can take on improving your health. And its not just about losing weight!! Although that could be your top priority.
