Why does the human body need water?

Most people are absolutely unaware of the fact that the human body can survive without food for many weeks. But this is not so when it comes to water. If you do not have water, you would only able to last for just a few days – that’s it!

This is because water is a vital component of the human body and the human body consists of between 55% to 75% cent water.

Water is that essential component of the human body that forms the basis of perspiration, digestive juices, blood and urine. Plus it is also contained in bones, fat and lean muscle.

People who are older will lose about 2 liters of water on a daily basis.

Almost all mature adults lose anywhere between 2.5 to 3 liters of water daily.

The bottom line is that water is required for almost all the functions of the human body.

So, to keep your body and mind healthy and fit, make sure you have enough of water – everyday!

Take care.

Regards:)

Wow. That's cool to know. Two or three liters a day as an adult is a lot. Our bodies are really efficient but ran out of gas fairly quickly, LOL!

Hi Boonboon:

How are you?

Happy to hear you liked the information I shared.

Best wishes and regards :)

1.5 liters is enough if there is no much activities. But if you are doing hard exercise, then you need to drink much more, 2-3 liters for body to replace the water inside

Stop giving out wrong advice, will you? 1.5 liters is NOT enough, not even in an inactive person. The average adult loses between 2 and 2.5 liters per day, more depending on activity levels, so that would be the minimum to replace.

I do agree with you that water is necessary for all living bodies (either it is human being, animals or plants). Water has the ability to dissolve the meals you have taken with the help of chemicals and these chemical works only in water. Ideally, you have to have about 21/2 quarts of water a day for healthy body. I have read somewhere that 65% of human body and mouse's body is water. While an elephant's body is 70% water and an earthworm is 80% water!

Nice post Alisha :)
