Hello, I'm quite interested in some ideas for losing weight. I'm 28 and lead a fairly active lifestyle. I go to boxing classes twice a week (1 hour, 30 minutes each - including sparring and high intensity work out), walk about 7k steps most days. I eat relatively healthy foods. I don't eat meat and avoid carbs a lot. My diet generally involves fish, salad, poached eggs - nothing too dreadful. On weekends I'm not the best behaved, I tend to have a drunk snack (cheesy chips...) and drink a lot of wine. But still, nothing crazy compared to my friends. My weight has gradually crept up. A year ago I was 9 stone and had pretty much the same dietary/ drinking habits - I probably ate more then! - and now it's 10 (NB. I'm short, so this is technically "overweight" for my height, according to NHS). Anyway does anyone have any ideas about why I might be putting on weight? Is it just metabolism slowing down as I get older? I think a small bit of it may be muscle (I can do a lot of press ups) but maybe I'm just in denial about my cheesy chips.

you need to sit down and track everything that goes in your mouth for a week or two, it may not feel like you are eating a lot but most people are awful at judging portion sizes and it is very easy to slip something in and forget that you have even eaten it. Wine has a lot of calories.

What is your bodyfat % ?

A good section of the forum to track your food is in the diary section which also happens to be the most popular area.

Ha! Those pesky cheese chips! The one down fall of drinking, when the goal is weight loss (other than empty calories) is that alcohol decreases inhibition, meaning you are more likely to eat whatever is in sight while you are drinking.

I tend to have 2 recommendations for individual who have slowed progress....

I would encourage focusing on increasing vegetable intake in the tune of one serving in each of your meals, including snacks! Fruits and vegetables have very different impacts to your body's metabolism in the form of how they impact your insulin.

Secondly, I would recommend getting protein in each of your meals as well, this too includes snacks. Protein is very satiating meaning you are less likely to over eat and you feel full after eating it. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner I would suggest 20-25 grams. For snacks at least 10-15 grams.

As well as a bonus third! Cut out added carbs, this means breads, pasta, cakes, cookies, cracker, chips, soda and beer (alcohol). Carbohydrate spike your insulin. Insulin is a hormone that causes bellies to grow and stunts weight loss. Foods that keep insulin low so that you can maintain in "fat burning" are proteins, healthy fats and vegetables!

Fruit should be your dessert.

Hope this helps!

Might be a victim of one of these factors:
1) Heavy Breathing (Hyperventilation)
2) Reduced blood flow
3) Low body and brain O2
4)Constant fatigue and hunger
5) Stress and overeating

Hello

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume and to make sure you are doing is find out your BMR (basal metabolic rate) and maintenance calories. There are a lot of sites which can help you do that, I suggest <spam removed>. You can also find out about your body fat percentage by entering your body measurements which will further help you to finetune your diet, you should also check out the facebook group <spam removed> , its has all the necessary information you will need relating to nutrition and training for free. Wish you a happy fat loss journey.☺☺

All the information needed are on this site - no need to trek off to another one.
No website can calculate body fat percent accurately - all they can do is produce an approximation - it is best deduced using calipers or specialist equipment.

I had a huge problem with losing weight. I went from 270-255 in a year. for the longest time I couldn't get past 255. I then found Herbalife. In two months I have gone from 255-220. Not only did I lose weight but I have gained more energy and my body feels amazing. If you want I am more then happy to help you out if you would like to try Herbalife.

You may lead an active life style but if you consume too many calories then your exercise won't count for much. Try downloading my fitness pall on your phone and enter your details there. That will tell you how many calories you need to eat each day. Eat as you normally would throughout the whole week whilst counting everything you eat. At the end of the week times the amount of calories you were supposed to eat by 7 and how much you actually ate by 7. If what you ate is higher than what you were supposed to that is your answer. Even though you allowing yourself to have some fun on weekends may seem small in comparison to your friends or the rest of the week calories add up very quickly if you don't keep them in check.

According to me you need to set a diet plan and follow it strictly.
