Has anyone who has done both swimming and dry land cardio noticed that swimming makes you WAYYYYY more hungry than, say, running or doing weights? I believe that running burns more calories than the same time given to laps in the pool but for some reason, it almost seems like the more, or harder I run the more may appetite vanishes and I have to force feed myself to eat. Swimming, however, increases my appetite to where I can hardly get full at all even eating what normally would fill me up just fine. I have talked with friends who have had similar experiences. Has this happened to you? Anyone know why it is?

Hi Sparrow. Yes, I experience the same thing. I can only hypothesize that with swimming, you're using virtually every muscle in the body to move, whereas running only requires the legs. With that in mind, I would guess that one's metabolism would remain at a higher level after swimming, as opposed to running. That's the best I have, for now :)

Yes, I have noticed that about swimming. Even if I'm just swimming around for fun I get really hungry. Maybe it's because the pool is cold and your body is using calories to keep itself warm  With running your body gets really heated up causing one to feeling a little nauseous afterwards. So obviously I don't feel like eating much.
