Which Supplement is Right for me? help

My main goal is to cut fat..while maintaining muscle. I'm 21...5'10..I'm eating a healthy diet, and working out rigorously with weight lifting. So far, I've lost 20-25lbs this month. I weighed 235 and now i'm hovering between 210-215. My goal, 180lbs.

Which supplement is right for me? Right now, i'm turning up my workout, adding a little bit more weight to my benchpress, curls, shoulder presses etc. With my diet, which is helping me cut down..along with weight lifting,...Should I be taking a whey protein? or any other supplement?

I am already seeing a difference with my physical appearance, especially in my chest area and arms.

If you're currently not getting enough protein, then look into a protein powder, then perhaps a multivitamin, and EFA's if you're lacking in that department.

If you're okay in all those categories, perhaps look into thermogenics..

I agree with mreik, for the most part.

You need to regulate your dietary intake and see how much protein you actually are getting.

Thermogenics can be good for weight loss, but many of them can be addictive and have been known to cause heart/liver problems. While they are effective, I personally would not recomend them unless thorough research has been done as to the effect of the ingredints used in perticular thermogenics.- IMO

For the past month... i've been paying more attention to my protein intake. As of 1 week ago..i've been doing a 1500 Calorie diet and continueing my workouts. I'm having no problems with my diet. On a good day, 35-40% of my diet includes protein. On a bad day, about 20% is protein. I've been cutting back on Carbs to equalize my diet chart. On a usual day though, around 30% of my diet is proteins.

Would Whey Protein actually help me in my situation? Or would it not make a difference? I will be taking multivitamins though for sure.

If your goal is to maintain muscle then you seriously need to eat more.. five pounds a week is a great deal. 1500 calories isn't enough; depending on how often you workout, you should be getting a minimum of 2100 calories. Otherwise, you're screwing up your metabolism and eventually you will hit a plateau.

Sign up for a free acount and check what your caloric intake should be. Then you will see how much you need to be eating. Then you will be able to determine if a whey protein is right for you to loose weight. Traditionaly a small amout would be good shortly before excercise if you are trying to loose, just to give you a boost of energy in the gym. Traditionally not large quantities if you are not bulking.

I think you're right, because a few days ago, i've stopped losing weight and been maintaining weight.. I hit a plateau. I've been doing 1500 calories n below. eating mostly meats, veggies, n my daily can of tuna. I did notice though when I was eating in the low 2000s that's when I was losing the weight. I'll try upping my food intake a little bit more to see if that helps me out. I work out about 5times a week now. alternating body parts. To get over the plateau, i was thinking the otherday, Maybe I should stop working out for about a week then continue after that. or I should throw my body a curveball n start eating 2000+ calories a day again. I'll try the 2100 calories/day n continue working out the way I am, n we'll see if things change up for me.

B|ynd300M, i've been using that site since I began earlier this month. Great site, I did notice my protein was being overtaken by the amount of carbs i ate, so if there was rice on the table, I would take a little bit of rice but eat more meats and veggies. I also began buying cans of tuna to provide me with enough protein for the day. Thanks
