Which Program For Me?

There seems to be loads of programs out there which work for some and not others.
I suppose that a suited program would depend largely on the person. So how can I determine which one is best for me?
I am quite an easy person to work with as I like all types of food (one of my problems :p ) I also like to play sports (and this doesn't help!) and I have access to a gym.
I struggle mostly to get my head around the daily calorie intake, protein and carbs, which on? How much excersise, when to weigh yourself, keeping motivated.
To be honest all the info to take on board is a little overwhelming. So any advice would be much appreciated :)

Maybe you could post what you are eating and doing now (maybe start a diary), then invite comments on what changes would help. Sometimes a succession of small changes are more useful long term than any particular sudden, drastic program.

I know if you are trying to lose weight the 1200 calories
a day really works great and let's you almost any food just
watch portions and try to make or find healthier versions
of your fave foods. If your wanting to tone up I would check
on the high protien? Tammy:)

Very useful tips already...Huge thanks and hopefully I can start putting a regime together. Let the weight-loss commence!!

As stated above, the calorie counting seems to be the best.
And indeed if you checkout most diets they are actually counting calories or eating less calories than they are using.

good luck with whichever method you use :D

Cheers again, i've decided to give the calorie counting a go so with as much support as I have already received from this community then I cannot fail.
Thanks.

How do you guys/gals count calories. I had a hard time doing this when I was on WW points system. Example, what if I made a ham sandwich on rye bread w/ lettuce, mustard, how would I calculate that? I was never good at this.

Personally, I have a hard time sticking to a "diet" or stuff like that. I needed accountability. I definately have that here!! I did choose to do a program though. I chose LA Weightloss. They teach you a lifestyle instead of a diet. You're also held accountabile to them since you're required to go to counciling sessions at least once a week. Hope this helps!

Signup at fitday.com , just enter your foods & exercise. it does the rest.
Within about 4 weeks you will know by heart all your regular foods and be able to automaticly do it in your head (well i could anyway).
Im 6 months down the track and have lost over 100lb aeting what ever i want :)

I'm going to put the cat amongst the pigeons...

Calorie counting is best , but if you are undisciplined or lazy at figures like me, then its not always necessary. Eat healthy food - avoid certain bad foods - lots of the time, you know what they are e.g fatty foods, sugary foods, fried foods, fast foods, etc; drink plenty of water, eat regular, exercise, become more active and you will lose weight - well, hopefully. ;-)

Calories teaches you exactly whats healthy and whats not.
And its not always the things you think it is, thats one of the reasons why i reccomend it :)

ps. Although avacado and nuts are supposed to be good for you, they are just about pure fat and really high calorie. Eat em in moderation :)
