which is better?

Running at a pretty intense rate for 8-9 minute 4 times a day or running at a less intense but somewhat strenuous pace for say 45 mins to an hour....
 
Hard to say since 'intensity' in this case seems to be a subjective variable.

If I had to take a stab, I'd say the lesser intense of the two.

I'd read around the forum, especially the stickies concerning cardio and HIIT.
 
Fair enough... so this is how I rate intensity... High Intensity... can barely talk when done.... and Medium intensity... break a good sweet... and slightly/ to medium out of breath.
 
I'd just as soon do something like HIIT before I did 'your high intensity' for 9 minutes.
