whey protein for someone whos using

a treadmill?

so if someone is tryin to weight aka beginner and is just doing threadmill for now, how is whey protein going to help them?

therefore, is it useful for someone whos tryin to lose weight but has not done any resistance training yet

What does your current food intake look like?

you really don't need whey protein unless you're really coming up deficient in protein sources -- but you're still better off getting protein from real foods...
 
Make sure you have a good diet plan and WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAM.

If you really want to lose weight get off the treadmill and start lifting weights.

Cardio will basically take you from looking like a big pear to a smaller pear. It won't give you any muscle definition and can actually use your lean muscle for energy.

By getting on a good weight training program you will start to build muscle which burns calories while you sleep.

One pound of muscle burns an extra 35-50 cals a day.

Start focusing on improving your metabolism and you will lose weight.

Please provide the source on the extra 35-50 cal a day for muscle.
Losing fat will bring out the definition- the muscle is hidden under the fat. How the heck would he go from a large pear to a smaller pear with cardio only?
To tell an overweight person to get off the treadmill and lift weights only to lose weight is not the right thing IMO.
How will WT increase the metabolism but cardio will not.

If I am wrong on these will someone who knows please correct me. I think i am right but can never be too sure.

I am not an expert on this but it really seems to me you should look at what you are advising people to do. From what I have seen it is wrong as it can be.
 
Looks like I am following a whole mess of things right here...

Cardio (aerobic or anaerobic) most certainly has its place in fat loss; weight training does have its place in fat loss.

And muscle burns about 6 calories a day per lb... fat is about 2 calories per day.

Nowhere near the 30-50 more than most people think.

Jonathan, where are you getting your information from and what are you certified in?

Here is an interesting read... take it for what it's worth, I think we need to focus on skeletal muscle and trained muscle.

Most of what he sad is crap, or wrong.

Not so much as wrong... but just mis-informed. Those numbers change depending on composition of the body. Like I said, weight training def increases metabolic rate, but how you add that muscle and through what methods results in different rates.

I just wish people wouldn't through out "numbers" as concrete information; it gives people the wrong impression and bad information.

Of course weight training has its place in fat loss. But if the guy us saying that all you gain from cardio is to look like a smaller pear then in my opinion he is wrong, not misinformed.
I am always thinking like someone new to weight loss coming on here and seeing something like that and thinking " oh hell, I have no weights so I give up. I don't want to look like a smaller pear."

This is sounding way too bitchy- sorry.

I agree with you on every other aspect.
 
The smaller pear analogy always makes me chuckle because I picture a large pear and a small pear. For some odd reason... call me crazy... the smaller pear is in the same proportions as the larger pear, but shorter. I don't think diet alone makes a person shorter, not unless a ton of bricks falls on you. Now, if by smaller pear, they mean narrower pear, isn't that exactly what people who are losing weight are trying to achieve?

I'm not looking to buy bigger boobies so yeah, thats pretty much what i'm shooting for.
