Hi everyone,

I've been toying with the idea of using whey protein (I'm thinking this over other protein powders as it doesn't taste of much) in my cooking, with the logic that it would keep me fuller for longer and therefore helping to curb snacking.

I find that eating fewer carbs tends to result in me getting hungry a little sooner, hence this plan.

Or perhaps drinking it with a meal might be a good idea...

Has anybody else here tried consuming protein powder in or with their meals increase the length of "fullness"?

Cheers,

John

ps. on a related note, has anyone used one of the organic or "natural" protein powders (like at teraswhey.com for example)? They're supposed to be healthier, which I find a tempting propositon - only thing is the price.

Well I've received some teras whey, and I reckon having a load of it after meals is working ok. It makes a good alternative to a normal dessert, and thought it's nowhere near as satisfying, I'm definitlely staying more full.

Being based in the UK means postage is quite expensive, as it's shipped from the us, so I'm just keeping an eye on one from a company called the organic protein company in the uk with their organic whey protein - they launch in the summer so I've got a bit of a wait.

Hello John,

I use my protein powder in my yoghurt, low fat greek yoghurt or (i think it's called) cottage cheese. You can put it trough your pancakes if you wish. I think it is a great way to let you stay fuller for a longer time. Or you can mix it with low fat- or soy milk as a snack in between your meals.

Ah yes, yoghurt! That sounds like a great idea - and so obvious. Pancakes are something I'm avoiding at the moment due to the wheat content but I guess I could use, say, half the flour and use protein powder in place of the other half.

I'll try adding the natural whey protein stuff to yoghurt rather than as a plain drink, as it'll feel more like a proper dessert then. Thanks!

Yoghurt is actually the best idea here! :) I for myself agree!

Yeah protein does usually make you feel more full and that plan might work. And there is no thing as better whey protein. Whey protein is always the same thing, protein. A lot of fitness you tubers use 'My Protein' for their whey and it seems to be alright. But you don't need to spend money on powders. If you eat more stuff like meat or cottage cheese you'll get a good amount of protein.

Protein supplements are vital part of your body building targets. They not only meet energy requirements also provide your body the proteins it need. Lean muscles are built with their regular intake. This is important to take it twice during a day for best results.

You do not need to supplement protein, a good diet can provide all the essential protein you need, even for competitive strength athletes, do not listen to the hype of supplement manufacturers looking to make a profit from the uneducated
