Do you know how many calories i should be eaten if i want to lose weight?

To me, being healthy is not a diet but a lifestyle change. Think about it, if you're used to eating McDonalds every other day, then you start your diet and eat well until you reach your ideal weight, if you start going back to your habits, you'll gain the weight back.

Just a bit of advice :) Helped me to change my frame of mind when I wanted to lose 30 pounds.

I'm not an expert, but from what I can tell, you're resting metabolic rate is anywhere from 1900-1070 calories. So eating less than that and a good amount of protein would help.

Weight loss, in my opinion, is best obtained through proper nutrition and being able to absorb the nutrients you put in your body. I know of a couple of people with IBS that have found a way to treat it pretty well so far. How is your IBS?

I agree it is lifestyle change, i have stopped smoking hence the weight gain, and i feel the most comfortable at around 15-16stone, i have been lighter before and dont like it, it doesn't feel right for me. if i can get don to 15 1/2, i would be happy.
ibs has its moments, bad then good.
my blood pressure has come down to 154/94, i have my last check next week.

for me, its not really the weight, my fitness is the most important, i do walk alot and my legs are solid!
happy new year to you!

I bet your snacking is what adds up the calories. You didn't say, but I'll guess you drink a lot of calories too.

You can eat up to 2500 calories and lose weight at a healthy rate. I started at 18st 1lb and once I'd reassessed my food(drink) intake I dropped about 40 lbs in 6 months.

Walking is all very well, but you might want to do something to really get your heart rate up. Jogging/biking and you do need to push yourself. You burn the calories faster that way ;)

Drink plenty of water and buy a bag of apples/oranges and munch on them rather than biccies and crisps.

Gotta admit that I love crisps too much. I once went through a multi-pack of 10 bags of salt and vinegar. Just to see if I could. Was a struggle by 8th or 9th but I made it ;)
