WHEN to take protein,(BEFORE /& AFTER)

i know you should take it post workout. but what about on days you dont have workouts and pre workouts? do i still take protein drinks/shakes to allow my muscle to recover faster? and when should i be taking them. the timing i mean. THANKZXZX
 
I am going to assume that you mean WHEY protein and not casein. Since Whey is a fast acting protein, there is 2 ideal time to take it. One is in the morning to kick start your protein synthesis and other time is post workout to saturate the body with protein again. Rest of the time, eat slow digesting protein like casein or chicken breast or fish or steak.

On day off, I would take it for breakfast. In a full day, try to consume 1g of protein per body weight.
 
If you are eating five small meals a day, then you should be eating protein both before and after your workout. There are only 18 hours in a fitness day. That means you should be eating every three hours.
