I agree to some extent but I think what it really boils down to in this fitness world, is what works for YOUR body type.abear said:when is it best to avoid carbs? really and truely, there is no time to avoid carbs
some have latched on to protein/fats and protein/carb meals but that theory has been exposed. some have also said to avoid carbs after a certain time as mentioned, but even that doesnt hold water too well. some even say to avoid carbs before cardio, but that too is flawed
so again, when is the best time to avoid carbs? really and truely, there is no best time to avoid carbs
haha, i did a complete circle

Agree, if your body needs it, it needs it.
>some even say to avoid carbs before cardio, but that too is flawed
I agree, that's seems ridiculous in my opinion also

This brings me on to a similar subject. Some people say don't eat late at night. I say if your hungry and your body needs it provided your not having a big meal directly before you goto bed then you should eat.
Could be anything so long as like any other meal it's not saturated with fat.
Something as usually recommended 50 grammes of carbs and 15-25 g of protein.
This subject was brought up by my boxing coach saying it lies on your stomach, and it's still there in the morning because your body shuts down and metabolism slows etc etc.
In my opinion and from what i've learnt eating after intense workout such as a boxing session is good for your body BECAUSE it's just going to send nutrients to the muscles and convert carbs into the liver to replen glycogen stores even after your 20 minute window closes.
Also High intensity training raises your metabolism for several hours so i see no problem with eating late at night, even more so in these circumstances.
I would however increase the protein intake aswell after bouts of intense exercise as your muscles are more receptive to protein intake.
What does everyone else think?
