When it rains...it pours

Okay, so Jon calls me this morning, and says that his truck isn't running, and he got stiffed on a job he completed. If you don't know, Jon was car pooling with me down to Salado for the competition. He finally gets the truck running, but only recoops part of the money he is owed (he flips houses). Soooo...at first we weren't going to go, but then decided to go anyway.

Then he busts a mainline to his plumbing.

Then my landlord calls and says that he wants to sell the house and doesn't want to rent it out anymore. He wants to sell it by January; I don't want to buy the house. Now I've got to scramble to find another house for another six months to a year until my credit is high enough to where I don't have to put a 15-20% down to buy a house. I asked if he'd wait until August cause then credit would be cleared up and I'd have all summer to concentrate on packing and moving. But nope...he's wanting to get rid of it. Gawd for needing to spend a bunch of extra money on moving and etc

Soooo...the trip to Salado has been canceled. On the bright side, he feels so bad about cutting out that he's going to share his mead that's been brewing for 3 years tonight.

awww, that sucks, Evo. :(

Sometimes sale of houses dont come too quickly, and you should have 30 days at the point of sale.

Maybe you can sit the land lord down and come to some mutually beneficial terms that may persuade him to postpone the sale of the house for at least six months to allow you to be in a better position.

1. Offer to pay a SMALL fraction more in rent (Do you happen to be on lease?)

and/or

2. If there are items that are in need of repair in the house and you have friends in knowledge of house repair (roof, general fixes, etc), you can offer to repair them in exchange for allowing you to stay abit longer.

3. Are you or are any of your friends handy men where they are adept in repairing houses? Maybe you can offer to assist him in the other units he owns for a fair exchange of some sort to buy some time?

4. Mutual benefit brain storm: Maybe there is something you know about him that you can use against him to benefit him in some way, that will buy you some time?

Im so sorry to hear about Salado, EVO, really. That sucks major.......BLANK.

Sorry to hear all the junk Evo. Glad you were able to find the silver lining! lol :D

A real man would have figured out how to make it. ;)

When I was drinking last night I got in my car to drive down there. In my drunkeness I just figured I'd sleep in the car. But then I realized I'd have to drive with 1 eye closed because the 1 lane turned into 3. :yelrotflmao:

Do you have a lease on your house? Here in Florida, it is hard to sell a house in which someone is living and has a lease.

Sorry to hear about the set backs sweetheart. That really bites. I am sure there is something good to come out of the whole thing though, you know what they say - everything happens for a reason and there is a reason for everything. You know seeing as you have to move Canada is a great place to live :D Ok on a serious note these guys have some great suggestions. If you offer to help get the place into selling condition then you can buy some time to find another place. Kitchens and bathrooms are the biggest selling points so hope you know a bit about working on them. I hope it all works out for the best in your favor.
