What time are y'all done with your last meal and how close is it to going to bed?

I usually eat within an hour before going to bed

It contains casein... which helps slow down the output of insulin through the night. Cottage cheese is another good one. Some people just have a casein shake.

The idea is that the casein does not cause the insulin to spike up, but instead causes insulin to be slowly secreted throughout the night. This helps the metabolism and it helps repair your body at night.

What about the carbs in milk? 1 cup of skim milk has something like 12 grams of carbs in it, I don't know about chocolate milk but I can only assume it is higher. Sounds like a pretty bad idea. Even the low fat chocolate milks I have seen contain sat fats.

The best pre-sleep meal I have ever seen is a whey shake with Udo's/flax (slows digestion of proteins) and a bit of cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is where it's at especially if you can get the stuff with low fat and low carb content.

EIDT:
I wasn't aware that casein protien had any effect on insulin suppresseion but rather the digestion of protein, do you have something on that? I'd be interested to see.

Love the Dairy Deal

WOMEN=NEED CALCIUM

Love the idea of cottage cheese as a "snack/last meal" before bedtime. SOOO gonna try that!!!

Cottage cheese is a great pre-bed snack because...it contains milk which contains casein :)

I just prefer organic skim milk mixed with a bit of Hershey's chocolate syrup. Keep in mind that I am not some fanatical dieter. I eat healthy and a cup of chocolate milk is my treat.

I don't have anything here at my office, but try doing a search for it on Google or something. It's pretty well-known that casein before bed helps with excess liver output and insulin levels.
