Sport What's your take on diet drinks?

Sport Fitness
I love diet drinks, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, and those Minute Maid Light drinks.

I've heard many mixed opinions on them. Are they no good, or are they a good diet tool? Some people say that they're bad because of the sodium, but 4mg of sodium doesn't seem that bad.....Also, I've heard artificial sweeteners can slow your digestion.

What do you guys think?

Aspartame.

I know its boring as bat ****, but I've not come across anything that helped with shifting some pounds as part of a controlled diet as water.

Warm water and squeezed lemon juice is pretty good in the morning for cleaning you out too. Not the nicest thoughts but it has to come out

Made my joints swell

Two years ago I decided to switch from regular soda to diet - within two months my joints swelled up to where I couldn't bend my fingers all the way and I couldn't walk my flight of stairs because my achilles was swollen. I didn't know it was the diet soda until I did some research and stopped drinking it. I'm almost 100% normal again but my one achilles is still a little weird.

I drank it when I was in my late teens with no problems but now in my early 30s, I can't. It was awful so please don't use it....

Hey finnaly, that is an interesting note you make. I used to drink diet soda all the time, even more so about 2 months ago at work every morning and afternoon. both of my knees were VERY stiff in the morning getting up, and quite painful during getting up and down, and step classes, and while doing squats. felt like I had arthritis. Well I cut out diet soda because it always made me feel bloated. Well I havnt had any problems with either of my knees since then. I can even use both risers during step class without my knees hurting, and can run! I didnt put 2 and 2 together until now, wonder if that had anything to do with anything?

Yeah, right after posting that I decided to cut out pop altogether, since I'm trying to eat more natural foods. Sometimes at the end of the day I used to have pain in my neck and head, and I figured it was because I bend over and pick up wheelchairs all time, but it doesn't really happen anymore, so maybe there's a connection there too.
