Sport Whats the deal with Soya?

Sport Fitness
I am trying to keep my protein intake up, I was taking on a whole load of dairy and protein bars in order to do this, aiming somewhere between 70-100kgs per day. But I have since found out that I am lactose intollerant. I eat dairy, I puff up! (water retention, feel drowsy/fatigue, have lots of mucus and other symptoms). Basicly I took out dairy and lost about 2 inches from my stomach (bloating not fat unfortunetly) and my eczema got better.

SO! Now I am trying to find enough protein to feed myself. I eat alot of meat and fish but can't keep up with the costs. Cheap ham never cut it for me and I think it has added lactose anyway, so its chicken breast, tuna fillet, frozen prawns and the once a week ham cut from the bone.

I read about soya as a form of protein, but I keep hearing mixed stories about it. Some say its great, others say its not absorbed by the body, others say its a poor quality protein...

Does anyone have any real experience? does anyone have any points of view? is it a better idea to swap meat with soya or will I be missing out?
