Sport What's the deal with bread?

Sport Fitness
I read this book (well most of it) - "Fire up your metabolism" by Lyssie Lakatos R.D. and Tammy Lakatos Shames R.D. that says:

"...the first ingredient must be "whole grain" flour. For bread to be 100 percent whole wheat, "whole wheat flour" should be the only flour listed. "Wheat,""enriched," or "unbleached" flours are refined flours..."

So, that's fine and dandy, but at the store today I was reading all of the ingredients labels on breads (yeah, all of em) and they all have high fructose corn syrup, like in soda. That can't be good for you! So is there a healthy bread or is it a goose chase?

i'm not much of a bread eater myself, no special reason but i have seen some ppl mention a type of bread that starts with and E.

ezibel or something to that effect. i know i'm not spelling it right

Ezekiel bread.

You have to search around for good, WW bread. FYI - high-fructose corn syrup is another word for sugar. Try a healthfood store for some organic WW bread.

If you get a bread maker and search for recipes online there are plenty you can make at home very easily and cheaply then you know what goes in beyond a doubt. You can use organic honey or brown sugar in place of sugar if you want as well, the yeast acts on them just fine to get a good rise.

Exactly! I had a flatmate in college who was into bodybuilding and he had a bread machine which he used everyday. There's nothing better than the smell of fresh bread in the house. He used to pour the ingredients in the machine at night and program it to have it start after some hours so the bread would be ready by breakfast time. (It takes 3 hours to make). The nice thing is that you can have variety with it just by adding extra ingredients and you know exactly what goes in it. No preservatives, sodium etc.
