I'm not sure if this is the proper place on the forums for this, and if it's not, please let me know and i'll move to the right area!

I'm absolutely at a loss as what to do for lunch M-F. Being a student, I roll out of bed in the morning and go to class--either eating nothing, or eating something random and unhealthy (usually nothing though). Thing is, due to an an internship/job/whatever you want to call it, I go straight from my last class of the day to there. I have no choice, it's part of the gig. Because of this, I find myself sliding into a drive-thru, grocery deli, etc, getting a quick and easy bite to eat to take to eat when I get there.

So my question is, what is something easy, healthy, and filling to eat, that will get me thru the day until dinner that night? Are things like Lean Cuisine, SmartOnes, etc., something good to invest in to keep in the freezer at work and heat and eat everyday? Are there other things I could look into? I'm totally at a loss here, and I know just not eating anything during the day is not the answer.

Thanks in advance for everyone's thoughts and advice!

Grill/bake/broil whatever chicken breast at home and make a chicken breast sandwich on whole grain bread with chicken and veggies. Put it in tupperware and bring it with you to school/work.

Alternatively could be a whole grain/cheese sandwich.

You can always bring some nuts with you, they are high calorie so it's not much to carry around. Obviously make sure you don't eat too many.

You can bring fresh veggies cut in advance.

You can also buy some healthy food, for example you can buy plain milk to drink and it's filling. Little eating places in buildings often have yogourt, fresh fruits, fresh veggies, tuna salad sandwiches.

If you go to a place like Subway or another sandwich place, you can always ask them to put lean stuff on your sandwich, ask for dark bread and skip all the sauces.

Plenty of options :)

Hey cd,

I drink a small glass of whole milk every morning before work. It's quick and easy, and provides a good combo of protein, fat, and carbs. Usually keeps me for a couple hours too. Keep some nuts in your car, like almonds or cashews. I keep a tub of oatmeal and a package of raisins at my desk and when I'm hungry, I grab a cup and a spoon and add some hot water. Raw veggies are also good for the fridge. As for meals, I frequent the grocery store and grab a salad. I just make sure that after the dressing, the sugar and salt doesn't skyrocket. If you can cook for yourself beforehand, it's ideal, but not necessary. Scour the grocery on a weekend and make notes about what would be good to grab and go. Then when you can have a menu in your head before you even get to the store.
