Sport What's a good protein food to eat before working out?

I'd suggest a whey shake with some oats pre-wo.
 
its far more important to eat SOMETHING than to worry about precisely what to eat.

if you only eat 30-45 mins pre-workout, keep it light, or liquid.
if its more like 90 mins (like me) then something more solid would be better IMO.
 
Well i'll have my protein shake AFTER the workout. That's the way to do it isn't it? Could I have a shake BEFORE and a shake AFTER?
 
There is no reason why you can't have a protein shake before & after! My husband does that. Just don't drink it immediately before or it will be sloshing in your stomach and you will be burping. The other thing is a meal replacement or protein bar. Some of those offer more nutrients than shakes.

It also depends on what your goals are. If gaining muscle mass is important, then high protein with complex carbs is important. But if you are just trying to tone up/decrease fat, then stick to protein only so your body will use your stored fats to burn for energy.
 
I suggest you wait till after your workout to take a protein shake. Protein will bother you if you take it before. Powerbar Energy gel is probably the best thing before weight lifting along with a lot of water. It gives you the energy the to go all out.
