What type of workout do you get from work?

I think about this pretty often. I work outside (building stuff) so I do some neat "exercises" I thought I would share:

5 gallon bucket of paint farmer walks
Roof sheet shoulder press
21' sheet metal ladder stepper (my personal favorite)
one sided shed wall deadlift

And of course numerous and various other lifting and cardio type exercises.

What about your job? Any cool exercises?

not for me. i'm a shipping clerk so its writing, typing and walking.

i use to load trucks, so that was alot of exercise

For my full time summer job (yup I'm still in school) i put synthetic fertilizer bags on pallets for 7 hours a day... hmm, kinda like cleans...

Today I roofed a 20'x24' its a mix of calf raises, hyperextensions, squats - by the end, you really feel it in your lower back, thighs and calves. Not to mention "hoofen" the bundles up onto the roof.

I've helped my dad roof before.. I didn't even do that much and my legs were killin me, I bet you've got a few more days before any lower body workouts... lol

Well, I sell sports and vitamin supplementation-so, flap my jaws quite a bit. I also teach a martial arts/self defense class and so I get a bit of a full body workout through this

technical support, so lots of half squats (standing up out of chair), walking (to the water cooler), and the occasional game of (table) soccer.

my job is zero activity and they provide a fridge full of soda. not a very good environment for my goals...but a good test of willpower.

Nice, I used to do cust serv which is partly responsible for me getting fat in the first place. I went from ranging between 165-180, to 195!!! Yikes!

I'm currently a stay-at-home dad while I finish up my degree (criminal justice). My kids are still young, ages 2 and 5, so my day consists of chasing them around (in addition to all the housework like laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.) and the fact that we have a 3-story house means I do tons of stairs everyday.

Having kids is the best workout routine I think because you are constantly running after them and picking them up and carrying them around, so you get a good mix of strength training and cardio, they eat everything in the house so you are immediately put on a limited diet, so between the activity and the diet, you are able to stay fit and lean.

Today:

Put up 6 walls, 4 x 16ft (10 ft tall) and 2 x 26ft - not too bad with a couple of us.
A bunch of little crap - paper barrier, bracing etc.
Trusses (28ft)- carrying about 100ft, throwing up into walls, turning over with a stick - 17 of these bad boys - I am whoooped!
