I am going to our Christmas meal and am having the following:-

onion soup with a cheddar croutons - with bread roll
nut roast with roast potatoes & gravy
sorebt

I reckon this will blow my daily calorie intake!

Obviously I need to eat something for breakfast - I am thinking about a slice of wholemeal toast, a bowl of cereal and a low fat yoghurt (300 calories in all) and then for tea perhaps a sandwich and a piece of fruit (say 200 caloires)

with a piece of fruit for a snack mid morning and in the afternoon

What do you think? Any alternative suggestions??

I am concious of the importance of having enough breakfast time!

I don't know all the studies on this, but a good size breakfast that is balanced (protein, carbs & fat) is really important for getting the day started right. When I was traveling with my fiance, we found a huge different in our lasting power walking around and sight seeing if we included a decent amount of protein for breakfast.

My suggestion would be to replace either the cereal or the toast with a protein source such as egg or egg whites. If you choose toast, you could have peanut or almond butter on it, or just a handful of nuts (max 10 nuts). There are a lot of other options, but including some protein, as AllCdnBoy said, an really help you feel full for longer.

Overall, what you have listed for that day is extremely heavy on the carbohydrates (sugar, starches, grains) and very lacking in the veggie, fruit, and protein departments. Fill up more on the protein and fiber foods during the day, rather than just carbs and chances are you'll feel fuller around dinner time, so you'll be less likely to overeat.

I also suggest to have healthy food at the breakfast and to maintain your diet at the party by eating less food.
Since there is a statement that Eat like a king in morning,Eat like a Prince at Lunch,Eat like a Peasant at Dinner.
