What should I be doing?

I am 17 Years old and i weigh 300lbs. I decided recently to join a gym and i've been trying to cut out sodas and junk food. I am wanting to lose at least 100lbs. How long might i expect this to take? What's the best way to get there? I'd appreciate any helpful tips that would make this journey a little bit easier for me.
 
You will have to experiment to find what works for you. I personally like small goals that I can consistently attain for the nutrition part. Like cutting down on pop and moving completely stop drinking it. For activity I like entering races and training for them. I need the structure that the training provides and it helps me to have to pay for a race so that I have to train for it, otherwise I feel like I am wasting money.
Try a couple different things. See what you like. If something doesn't work out well, don't think of it as a failure - think of it as a learning opportunity to know what doesn't work for you.
