What protein shake?

I've been looking up coming up with a new diet, which i'll probably post up here soon, but im wondering what protein shake i should take? I need to get about 40g of protein a day from the shake to reach my protein intake target.

I live in the UK so any specific brand recommendations would be great, i know that whey protein is considered the best. It all seems expensive so if anyone knows any good slightly cheaper brands then that will be much appreciated too.

Thanks for any help.

it 'seems' expensive, but its not if you do the math.

for example, I can get 80 servings for $40. those are 26g protein per serving. So, 50 cents a serving, or $1 to get a double dose (which is close to your desired 40g needed).

Now look at chicken or turkey breast. You're looking at a minimum of $3 per pound, and you'll need 5-6 oz to get 40g. That'll be more than $1...not to mention the prep time, cooking time, etc.

protein shakes should be cheaper than meat...if not you're getting ripped off, even in the UK (there are plenty of protein brands available over there)

Nitrean is delicious.

it sure is. I like the vanilla the most. the strawberry is the best for a PWO shake if you're adding dextrose.
the chocolate is good...not overpowering, not fake either.

unfortunately, the poster is in the UK, and At Large Nutrition (as far as I know) doesn't ship overseas. and the cost if they did would be a little prohibitive.

Yeah i had a quick search for Nitrean but it seems it is only in the USA, thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I've been looking at a site, myprotein.co.uk. I'm a bit confused as to the differences between a few of there products.

What are the differences between the more expensive and slightly cheaper ones? Is it just that the cheaper ones have slightly less protein and more carbs and fat? And what are the differences between the top two and bottom the two?

If anyone has the time to have a quick look at them it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Oh and thanks for the post malkore, dosn't seem so expensive when you put it like that.

Mate im from the UK and quite new to this but have been using BSN SYNTHA 6 for about 2 weeks now, and i must say i have never tasted any other shakes but this stuff tastes amazing! i have strawberry and its as good as any milkshake you may buy!

i read many reviews etc before choosing which brand to go for and it seemed Syntha 6 came out on top on flavour/taste with alot of peeps!

i got it from an online store for £26 inc postage (PM me for link) for a 1.3KG (2.91Lbs) Tub 1 scoop (44g) gives you 23g of protein, so i take 2 scoops for my 46g of protein, 1 tub should last around 30 shakes @ 1 scoop per shake!

expensive but great stuff!

try trueprotein.com, not sure if they ship to you but if they do you can make a blend of whatever kinds of proteins you want with whatever flavor you want
