What kind of shoes do you wear

I am interested in buying a new pair of running shoes. Lately when I run my legs get very sore very quickly, but my lungs and everything else are fine. My buddy told me this was because my shoes were too old and I was in need of new ones. So, what do you all wear? Any suggestions?

I bought some New Balance 834 running shoes after deciding that my badminton/squash trainers were causing me problems when running in a straight line for any length of time. Best thing i bought gym-wise.

Get something lightweight and give yourself 1 to 1.5cm space at the toe end. I wouldnt go out and buy a sparkly pair of Nike Air Pump Up 2 Rebound or whatever they choose to label their latest line with. Asics and New Balance are proven running brands and are not as expensive as the Sports Shop hyper-brands.

Ill say it once everymonth when i get asked this question from working in a shoe shop for three years asics are by far the best. But then it depends on what you think is comfortable you might be 2e width 4ee width who knows. If you find that out then i can tell you the best one. The shop that i workied at is called the shoe clinic tonnes of advice on the web page.

Any of the top name brands are advisable. I personally prefer NewBalance & Nike but some of the others named here are very good. The important thing is that you feel comfortable in them. Most sporting goods stores are carpeted and will let you run around the store in the shoes to see how they feel. Once you find a shoe you feel comfortable with I would stick with it instead of trying different ones but it's all up to the individual. Good luck, Jorge.

I've been a Nike man all my life but recently I've purchased some Asics and I won't be going back to Nike for a while.

I been trying many, was fasinated by nike and was using them for quite some time, I felt I should try Asics seeing many wearing at the gym, I feel I have an engine in my shoes now, They r excellent....I wont go back to nike or reebok...Asics gel Rock your way.

currently rotating between 2 pairs of asics kayanos a pair of asics GT2100 and a pair of asics gel1100. So as you can see i think asics are the best for me, with the kayanos being my favorite

Brooks Adrenaline. I was bouncing between new balance and asics for about 7 years and all of a sudden decided to try on a pair of Brooks. It's like they were made for my exact foot. Amazing.

actually i think tony and i are going to get some, we heard that they are really great for your knees, and comfy too!

I am lucky though, the shoes I look for have great support, and I went to an orthopediest to custom make insoles that fit my foot perfectly... These puppies are amazing as they can move from shoe to shoe (basically takes all the worry about any foot injuries, including helping with no spraining of ankles ect.).

I think everyone that runs should look into custom orthotics.

I have adidas and love them, I have a narrow foot and they fit me great, no stress running on pavement even, but I'm always up for something new, maybe I'll try these asics you are all raving about, havn't worn them since volleyball in grade 10, thanks.

yeah lol well ive kinda been using Emerica Heretic 2 skate shoes to start out a little  which cant be too good...but good news ! - i havent been running for too long only a few days and by about sunday or monday im going out to get some running shoes... im think some asic gel bottoms that you guys are talking about they sound good and comfortable

well after dragging my feet for a bit, i finally went and bought a pair of new balance 895s. I went for a 5.5 mile run today (my first run in about a month) and i feel pretty good! My knees would kill with my last shoes but these suited me fine. I think I need more arch support in my right foot though, so Ill have to buy some new insoles. Thanks for the suggestions.
