I'm trying to organise all the different articles and information I have gathered, and I'm confused. Where should I file fibre? Macronutrients, Micronutrients, i dont know. What is fibre classified as?
Thankyou.
Fiber is technically a carbohydrate. Insoluble fiber isn't digested, and helps move food through the digestive tract. Soluble fiber can be digested, and also helps move food through the digestive tract.
Macronutrients carbohydrates, fats and protein. Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals.
Fibre is a indigestible plant carbohydrate, which is soluble or insoluble. Both are good for us and play different roles in digestion. Soluble can help reduce blood cholesterol and insoluble produces a feeling of fullness and adds bulk.
Let me know if you need more details! Hope this helps!
You need at least 25 grams of fibre a day. Fibre is only found in plant sources.
The best foods for fibre are: apples (4 grams), baby spinach (4 grams), oatmeal (4-5 grams), milled flax seed (3 grams), WW bread (look for bread w/ at least 3 grams per slice), sweet potatoes, brown rice
