Sport What is bad about long grain white rice?

I eat a Kashi cereal that has emphasis on 7 whole grains, but it has an extra ingredient which is Long Grain White Rice.

I am worried that if I eat this cereal, I will gain what people call air fat or bloating from the white rice.

What I am curious though is, does white rice actually cause this thing called air fat or bloating? Is a white rice ingredient in a healthy brand of cereal going to do any damage?

Or...does white rice just not provide as good a nutrition as brown rice?

I am basically wondering if I will gain a fat face etc. if I eat a Kashi cereal containing white rice?

I asked this earlier, but I didn't get much responses...was hoping for more insight this time.

Someone also told me that the white rice ingredient is very insignificant in this cereal as the majority of the cereal is taken up by the 7 whole grains listed on the back of the box (the list does not include the white rice).

P.S - I will be trying that organic brand of Kashi cereal Autumn Wheat. I am hoping that will be ok.
 
white rice causes more insulin to be released than brown rice. that's why brown rice is slightly better.
 
So I take it that long grain white rice being an ingredient in this cereal won't do damage to my diet? I trust Kashi though, so I am taking that trust into account that this cereal is ok to eat. It tastes phenomenal for being whole grain flakes.

I won't be eating the cereal everyday, it's my back up incase I am in a rush or stuck with no other meal.
 
The cereal isn't bad. The white rice isn't going to kill you. As with all things you eat you just have to make sure it fits into your daily caloric needs for whatever goal you have set for yourself. Here is my favorite Kashi cereal:



It has more fiber, less carbs and more protein :)

I'm bulking, and this week if I hit 160 that marks my 20 lb. gain mark in 6 months. I didn't gain significant fat to notice a difference in my body fat, but muscles are developing.

To tell you the truth, I heard white rice can make your face and body get unnaturally fat without even adding fat. I do NOT want my face getting fat, my face is actually more lean than when I was 140 lbs. I succesfully pulled off 20 lbs. of more lean mass than I predicted on a diet that doesn't consist of precise macronutrient breakdown, and I don't want to mess my flow.

So basically, will my face get fat from the cereal? I need this cereal for emergency backup in the mornings when I find myself without whole foods. I will bite the dust and just stop eating it though if it will cause me to gain air fat or bloating or whatever.

I am a very paranoid person btw, so please don't be weirded out by my fear of gaining face fat.

But to answer the question - you will not gain face fat from white rice. Then again maybe im lieing to you. How do you know?

That has to be one of the funniest statements I have ever heard.
 
So.....no on the face fat gain from white rice then?

Sorry, when it comes to my body I get very paranoid...and that leads to me asking stupid questions.

I am not even going to eat white rice, I'm basically referring to the ingredient in this cereal. The white rice isn't even listed as one of the 7 whole grains, it's just added in the cereal for some reason, possibly an insignificant amount.

Understand that wasn't a job at you but yeah please don't worry about face fat and rice. The only way rice would make your face fat is if you were eating so much of it that you were in a caloric surplus to gain actual fat and then yeah at some point your face would get fat.
 
I've understood that when they process the brown rice to make it white, they remove the dark covering which contains a lot of the nutrients rice comes with.
 
Kashi also seems to get most of its protein from Soy.
