Sport What is a bulking diet?

Sport Fitness
To bulk is to eat in excess calories of what your body needs to maintain its weight. For example if eating 2000 calories a day you stay at the same weight, then eating 2500 calories a day you will increase in weight. Mix that surplus with lifting weights and tada you start to build some muscle.

The diet of it is really the same as any good diet should be just more of it. Check out the grocery list here for foods.

Would you say that if I'm bulking I should specifically increase the proteins? Or everything together?

In bulking you should be a good focus on both protein and carbs. You need protein for the muscle repair and carbs for the glyocen feed. They go very much hand in hand. You still want to keeps fat a little lower as they slow the digestive process. A general ratio that most guide by is 40% protein 40% carbs 20% fats. Of course you can vary this depending on your body type and reaction to these macro nutrients. The really important thing to remember is taking a hold of pre and post workout nurtrion windows. I recommend giving this a read if you have time. May seem a bit long but trust you will be highly informed afterwards.

Yup, I second this. Good fats are important in any diet too though, especially when bulking, they shouldn't be looked over.

Just so I know for future reference, what does a bulking diet look like?

Eating an excess amount of calories in order to build muscle.
