What happens when one becomes a 'skinny fat'?

That is to say, when losing a large amount of weight, but in return you actually become a smaller version of the 'fat' you what is one to do? Put a couple lbs back on and start using strength training at an intense level (ex. lifting weights 3 times a week along with cardio)?

I think I may have found myself in this situation, just wanted to see what others think of this situation. I don't really look toned except for the arms. Everything else especially the stomach looks just like before but alot smaller. Any help would be appreciated.

Hard to say without pictures and much more information, but most likely what you want to do is go on a clean bulk. Eating along these guidelines and at a moderate surplus (500 or so extra calories per day) in addition to training hard with weights. (I'd advise a solid full body routine 3x a week, and minimal cardio, unless it's done on days you're not weight training, and you make sure to replace the energy burned to make sure your calorie intake stays at that 500 point surplus). Over the course of a few months to a year or more you will put on some mass that will do a great deal to improve your look. After that you ought to be able to cut down your body fat again (it'll be easier the next time with all that muscle on you - especially if you kept your bulk clean) and see some serious improvements in your physique.

Being lean doesn't really do much for you if there's nothing to show under the hood. :)

There's also the possibility that you simply aren't at a low enough body fat % yet to see the kind of definition you're looking for.

Yes, Veenie this is what im doing right now i've found great results with doing weight's three 3x a week on a three day split

Tue-Chest, Triceps, Shoulders
Wed- Back, Biceps, Abs
Thursday- Hamstrings, quads, calves, glutes

I do about 5 sets of 12 right now I was doing 5 sets of 5 of the heaviest weight but now that my body is used to that weight (it only took 3 weeks) now I do more reps. I wait 30 sec to 2 min in between each set.

About being sore..from what ive learned being sore is from ripping up the muscle. If you spilt your weight routine into separate day's this will allow your body to rest, recover and rebuild.

A full body workout can work two if you do it Mon, Wed, Fri...because your resting on the other days.

As a women ive found great results through weights and find my self eatting more calories before to support my muscle growth and still lose around a pound of baby fat per week. It's a great combo so far. I also only do 20 min of cardio 3-4 times a week and fat keeps rolling off and my body is getting harder.

Ahhh... heart weights. If you have the home equipment or a gym pass try em out. Most gym's will alos show you on a one free session how to use the equipment :)
