I'm sure we're all looking forward to being fitter, slimmer, healthier. Able to buy clothes in any shop. Able to buy cheap bras from Best & Less etc.

But I was wondering what other things you are looking forward to that aren't usually thought of as benefits of losing weight.

What made me think of this was as I was shaving my legs this morning. I started to think "Gees it will be good when I can do this without having to employ all the skills of a world class contortionist!". Then I started to think about how much time I'll save with less leg to shave, and then how much shaving cream I'll save!

The benefits just kept coming the more I thought about it!

So come on, tell us some of the unusual benefits you're looking forward to - or even better have already achieved in your weight loss journey :D

Cheers,
Linda

I am looking forward to learning diving without having to fit into a Man-Size Wet Suit. I went for a snorkling trip in Cairns after my last year in uni and fell in love with the sea. But the thought of wearing a man-size wet suit and all my fats shown to the world(are all wet-suit supposed to be that tight or was it just me?) really had put me off the decision of going for diving lessons.

So the reward that I am going to give myself after the completion of the program is to enrol myself for that.

benefits

This one might sound daft - but I can actually wash my back more easily and I can touch my fingers together when i put them behind me - one over my shoulder and one from the bottom so they meet at my shoulder blades.

I also find that I can have both my little kids on my lap at the same time now.

Hello

I'm looking forward to been able to run and not feeling my bits bounce against my body (boobs and belly) is that to much information.

oh and been able to run around with my daughter, well when she can walk/run that is.. hehe

Momji - I've never been game to get in a wetsuit! But won't it be great to fit into a sexy little hot pink suit and know you look damn good!

Dizzy - I know what you mean about the hands. I can touch my fingers, but I used to be able to link them together. Will have to keep checking to see how I'm progressing! LOL

Di - I think these days it won't matter what size my boobs go, they're down there for good now :p

I thought of another thing I'm looking forward to... Having that gap between my thighs that skinny chicks have! How cool will that be?!

Bra

I am looking forward to wearing a bra without discomfort. A normal size bra without it irrating & annoying me ...especially in the summer!

The shaving comment was so right on... It takes awhile to realize how shaving has become a hassle. Its hard to bend over with big tummy in the way.

Hi all
Everything you have said rings a bell.

As for the thighs rubbing together - I manage a hospital at night and go up to the wards several times a night to check up on everyone and would love to be able to sneak up on them quietly without them hearing me coming from a distance!!

Making love with the lights on would also be good....

Some of the things I am looking forward to would be...

* Not hesitating being in a photo and once people see it not being seen as the look how fat she is but seen as the person who looks so fabulous and healthy

*Sitting in those plastic outdoor chairs without my thighs poking out the sides and my bum seeping through the cracks at the back lol (too much information sorry!)

*Pulling down my top/jumper because it keeps riding up everytime I walk a couple of steps

*Puting on a top and going 'oh my gosh this looks fabulous' instead of puting a top on and thinking 'hmm it would look much better with a few less kg'

There are so many benefits to look forward to aren't there?! And with the amount of effort it takes to stay fat and unhealthy, it really surprises me that I've put up with my weight for so long!

Another thing I'm looking forward to (other than having my hubby be able to pick me up - I love that one :D ) is to be able to swing on the swings at the park with my son and not get embarrassed if the chains squeek!!!

LOL. You girls are fabulous. All those things are definitely pluses.

I actually was able to cut my toe nails without having to contort my legs and belly in every direction to be able to reach each toe. It was wonderful. Still too much belly, but certainly getting easier. It used to be such a chore, that I would put it off till I couldnt stand looking at long toe nails. YUCKKKKKKKK!!!

And to think I will be able to paint my toe nails and actually see what Im doing as they will be closer than when I have them over to the side so I can reach my little toes. WOOHOO It will be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Hey everybody!

i don't know if I'm in the right place - it's been a few weeks since I posted and all the names are different - but moved my ticker marker and had to update - it is starting to get exciting! Still have miles to go - but a fifth of the journey has been completed!

I will look forward to riding horses, and amuzement park rides, and anything that has a weight limit or small seat size issue.

I also look forward to being able to squeeze by someone without having to say "Excuse my fat body"

And I look forward to eating anything in a public place without people looking at me like - no wonder you are fat -

And being able to sell girl scout cookies and not have little old men come up and poke me in the tummy while commenting at the top of his lungs - "If you'de lay off the cookies honey you wouldn't look like this!" (Okay - I really don't ever want to have to sell girl scout cookies again - but this really happened to me - )

I also look forward to unexpectedly glimpsing my reflection in mirrors or glass doors or windows and thinking "Oh my gosh! I hardly recognize myself - don't I look great!" Instead of the shock of "Oh my gosh! I am sooo fat!"

Yep - all of the above will be good -

Oh my gosh that happened to me today at a shopping centre and I fine and chirpy until I looked at my reflection in a store mirror and I felt like crying because I was so shocked that I had gone to such a state and realised that that reflection of me is what people see me as and it feels so wrong.

Dreamer - Yes I know the feeling when you just feel like the most fattest girl when your out with your pals.

A few other things would be

- being able to run to something ie. running to catch a leaving tram etc

- looking forward into fitting into clothes and not 'sqeezing' myself into them

I'm Addicted!!

Hubby and I drove down to Geelong last night to the Chris Isaak concert, and it's official.... I wasn't the fattest one there. It was SO wonderful to not feel like I stood out and even fitted on the narrowish seats.
Soooooo I am looking forward to more of these times out together. In January it's the tennis and another live performance in Feb.
As a bonus, hit the scales this morning and have now lost 20.7kg. Can it get any better? Oh yeah, 30kg is gonna be great!!

hi everyone *waves*

i dont know if this counts (it counts to me!!)

Im looking forward to the day when the guys i date are bigger then me instead of vice versa!!

hehe :D

Hey FatCat! I definitely counts! For the first time in years I am finally lighter than my hubby! He sees it as competition and for a while there was 'racing' me. But I think he's lost interest now.

I think I feel much more 'feminine' knowing I weight less than the guy I'm with! :D

oh my gosh feet shrink? i hope they narrow out as well! i long to wear a nice pair off heels without it looking like my foot is going to tear out of them.

I have just been on a plane trip this morning, and one of the things I'm enjoying already is the seat belts doing up with loads of room to spare, instead of being on their tightest setting.... and it seems that there is more room between the seats on the plane........... I guess it wasnt really the seats getting closer together, it was probably me getting bigger!
and I really enjoyed getting no looks of "OMG, I hope I don't have to sit next to her!"

Looking forward to going to the beach in my new hot pink bikini ( I haven't been for years in fear of being harpooned!)

ye... feet do get a bit smaller... i was initially a size 9.. quite big for asians... now... i can fit into most size 8s... :D which to mi is a god-send blessing... esp where in singapore... shoes are normally up to size 8... and ani other shoes bigger than that means more expensive!
omgsh i never thought about feet getting smaller!!!
Woooopeeee!! i think im going to become a shopaholic :D :D :D
