What do you think of this thermometer?

Any cooks or grillers out there that have one or heard anything about it? I was going to get it for my bf for Christmas. I am seriously having a hard time figuring out what to get him and I know he likes thermometers...

My other idea was to get him skiiing lessons. He's never gone before so I thought it would be a good idea. My only problem is that he hasn't showed any interest in it so I'm worried that might be more like a present for me.

Thought of getting him a paintball gun? Thats what I want for christmas from my lady.

My father has a lazer thermometer that you just point at the object and it gives you an instant temperature reading. He doesnt let me play with it though because I take the dogs temperature the cats temperature and anything else I can point it ats temperature :D

That sounds pretty sweet. Could it be used for cooking?
 
It sure can ! And many other things. The only problem would be it takes the outside temperature so you would have to make a slice in the meat to check the inside temperature.

That's lame! What purpose was that product made for other than dicking around?
 
Haha I think it might actually be designed for checking the temperature of gas tanks etc from a safe distance.

Its fun though, and geez 21 years old and the old man cant even trust me to check the dogs temperature. He loves that thing.
 
He uses it for his radios and he has used it for cooking as well, Next time im round there i'll ask him. I should go past tomorow. I'll try and remember.
