Sport What do you think of my past week?

Sport Fitness
Ok people, what do you think on my past week's food intake?

I know, I know. I eat too many foods that are in bar form. But it's just that they are so cheap, full of nutrients and I'm always on the run.

I'm not exactly following the percentages of fat/carbs/protein that some said I needed but I'm trying to keep protein at or near 30 percent. I'm sure I'll get better as time goes on.

I'm not recording the activites that I do but I waitress full-time, ride horses and go to the gym twice a week. I'm trying to lose the fat at my thighs and butt.

So what do yout think? Too many, too little calories? How about how much fat I'm taking in? I'm 5'6'' 142 pounds. Any more advice would be appreciated

I think your calories are fine. Maybe a little too much sugar (yogurt & sorbet)but a pretty good start!

I like to make like chicken breasts and stuff and put them in a cooler for when I'm really busy to get protein.

I think it looks good!! It really helps keeping track of everything you do so you can see the progress for motivation and if you come to a hault find where to teak your eating and work outs. Good Start! Keep it up!:)

No veggies? No fruit? It's done very nicely, by the way.

What do you mean? I've been eating apples, carrots and broccoli? Or are you saying that I'm not eating enough of those?

I'm slowly trying to get to a Protein/fat/carbs 40/30/30 ratio. It's moving very slowly but steadily. It's also a mindset thing. I'm always trying to avoid fat and it's so hard to try to actually increase that and decrease carbs.

It looks pretty good from a protein/carb/fat ratio perspective.. but look at your saturated fat! According to that, over 2/3s of the fat you're eating is saturated.. that could be very unhealthy in the long run.. try to keep saturated fats under 1/3 of your total fats (or 10% of your total calories). I'd suggest you cut the bars out of your diet (which in my experiences have always been loaded with saturated fat) and eat some foods with healthier fats like peanut butter and olive oil (and/or supplement with fish/flax oil)

I don't see any day where I have over 10% of my calories or over 2/3 of my fats being saturated? On most days it seems rather low actually. I appreciate your input though, will definately keep my eye on the sats and keeping them low.

oh my gosh...please don't take this personally..I read like 4 days and my eyes nearly popped out..all I could see was sugar sweets and more sweets...and bars bars bars....most of that stuff seemed like dessert to MY BRAIN...I'm like the other person...where's the vegetables and meat...I saw VERY LITTLE...I'm no expert but I was excited to see some really good balance of meals...if I ate that...I'd be putting on the weight...so personally...I don't think your choices are wise...
My eatting habits are equally as bad as yours..only I don't eat the sweets....I've having a hard time eating carbs..,but I eat a lot of eggs, salads, and lean meats....fresh steak, chicken and salmon...I never eat the processed meats...I eat VERY little vegetables...and I eat no fat and no sugar yogert once a day and 2 LARGE latte's,...skim milk......so trust me...I'm not being cruel by saying your stuff doesn't look balanced because mine is terrible also..although I don't eat the sweets so I've got an edge...sorry...

Yes, I am a sucker for sweets  I'm trying to weed them out. Without the bars I would be usually going for cookies or candy. I am slowly lessening the amount of bars that I eat though. I'm trying to get down to just one a day and instead eating fruits to help my sweet tooth.

before two months ago, I was eatting dessert every day for lunch and dinner. I did this for years.,...two months ago, I decided to try the South Beach Diet. For the first 2 weeks you cannot eat any desserts or carbs..NONE...and guess what..All three of us family members did this diet and not one of us cheated. It was truely amazing. For the first 10 days I had a headache every single day and night..why? Because i was detoxing all of the sugar from my body. It was terrible. Now today, two months later..I have no need for sugar or desserts every night. It's really really really cool. I"M not saying I don't have it once in awhile..because I do...If I have a need for something..I'll have a yogurt or sugar-free fugicle or popsicle. that's my dessert..It does not put on weight. We had a couple of birthdays in April and yep..had lots of cake...but than you just go back to eatting properly again. You will find that detoxing from sugar makes you not crave it again...It's really wierd how it worked for me. Now I'm 44 years old, so this was not an easy thing for me because I've had dessert every single day of my life...So I'm really really proud of myself. The last time I went on the body for life program I ate the bars all the time. Today I was in a store and they were giving free samples of the Atkins Bars which is what I ate on the body for life. I found them sooooooooooooooo sweet.......That's because I detoxed from the sugar..you just find everything is sweet now and you can't handle it..So just try detoxing for two weeks from carbs and sugars...........it worked for me..it's gotta work for other folks too..good luck!! brenda

Thanks for the advice. Sometimes I wonder if I'm taking in too much protein since most days I take in more grams that my body weight. Is that bad?

~Nicole

No thats not bad. Do you have a figure in mind of how many calories you want to intake daily (ex:1500-1850)? I think your fat intake is kinda low.

busyman-Well I'm keeping my calorie intake between 1500-1700.....how many grams of fat do you think i should be getting? How about how many grams of carbs? I do wonder if that many calories is too low to lose weight because my body might think it's starving. I am very physically active.
