Sport what do you eat on an average day?

Sport Fitness
It seems to me that you guys really know your stuf and i could learn a lot from this site.
Wondering what an average days meal would be?
Wouldnt mind learning some new healthy meals/ideas as my diet is getting a little on the boring side..

Lately, I've been enjoying very much twisting classic recipes to fit a more healthy lifestyle. I really enjoy cooking, but you know how much crap we put into the foods we eat. I'm actually starting a blog with this reciped I have come up with, but unfortunately it's only in spanish at the moment. I have, for example, come up with the next ideas so far:

1. Replace your typical pasta dish for a vegetables mixture. I use cabbage, onions, peppers, zucchini and carrots and add any sauce I would normally add to a bowl of pasta and top it with some Parmesan cheese.

2. Whenever I want to have a milk shake, instead of using regular sugar or honey, I use a tablespoon of light yogurt to sweeten it up.

3. I love the flavor of smoked barbecue sauce, but it can carry a lot of sugar. Instead, try using hickory liquid smoke. It's basically just water run through charcoals and it gives you almost the exact same flavor that the bbq would. I've been using this to marinade my steaks - along with some herbs sauce and ginger) and it tastes great.

4. I love stuffed bell peppers. You can stuff them with almost anything. Cottage cheese dip, ground meat and cheese, grilled vegetables. It's super easy to do and tastes delicious :)

Hope these ideas work for you!

depends on what yer lokking to do pumpkin!

I am on a rapid weight gain right now....

the above poster is obviosuly cutting...

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS...???

as a weight gainer, I am eating as "staples"

flax seed 2 scoops, and all my supplements
2-3 protein shakes
3-4 meals
cottage cheese like it is going out of style
loads of eggs
and I balance that (LOL) with pasta type carbs so I still have the energy to lift.

and when I head for sweating I load up on caffien! It;s heaven to be me "right now!"

But I also understand a deep deficit diet too.

your goals are what matters- then we can help you get what you want!

hope that makes sense.

Thats not a bad idea, ill work on that, in short, i run as much as my hip allows, go gym 3 times a week, lift weights - arms, about 4 sets of 10 for biceps and same for triceps then repeat later in the workout - the gym scales show ive lost 8% body fat and gained some muscle, but i want to look leaner, and less of the muscular look, lol.
im def not starving myself, been there done that, bought the T shirt - doesnt work! x

If that's your lifting routine then there's your main problem.

really? why, interested to know, i kinda made it up myself at the gym..well the lady said to do 40 - and that hurt enough -

because it's just your arms. There are a whole lot of other body parts ....lol

Chest
Back
Legs
Shoulders
Abs

You can lift for all those other body parts too :D

LOL, weight lifting is just arms, but i work out every part of my body, definately
sorry i misunderstood the Q.

Hi Sophie,

What we are saying is Instead of just doing weights for your arms, you should do weights for your *whole body* if you want to have a balanced workout.

Cardio is great for endurance, weights are good for your arms, but what do you do for strength for the rest of your body?

You should be using weights for your whole body. Actually, arms probably should be your last worry if you're not experienced because you'll hit them pretty adequately with multi-joint movements.

scope out my fitday journal in my signature, but be aware I've been eating poorly lately. its pretty obvious though what is bad and what is good, so focus on the good 'whole' foods.

Post your exact weekly routine (weight training & cardio) then we can help :D

BTW, where abouts in the UK are you from?

i will do! i need to work on it - devise a new plan all round, my hips hurting with the running, so may need to think of other cardio alternatives as doc's advised to cut my running in half!!

im from good old LONDON,and you? x

overall very healthy, calories very low? Is that for weight loss, or are you a slim framed person? very balanced and healthy all the same..

Well can't you post your rough plan so far? Just so we have something to look at and people can help change things to benefit you.

Your a dirty Southerner like Typhon :D I'm from Leeds, Northern all the way ;)

Hi Sophie.

If you really like running for the whole 'outdoorsiness' of it, riding a bike might be a good lower impact alternative. If it's not that, you could hit the rowing machine at the gym for a great cardio session. Swimming might even be a better option for your cardio.

Better than just doing cardio, some HIIT may do you more good if you are looking to burn off those last few pounds by adding a bit of well balanced muscle. The cardio may actually be burning up muscle mass as fast as you are putting it on with the slight amount of weight training you are currently doing. Cardio is great for your respiration and cardiovascular systems, but not really the best way to shed weight. For that, you really do need to put on a bit of muscle and then keep it with proper nutrition.

Back to the topic at hand :p, one thing I can definitely suggest if you don't already have one is to get an electric contact grill such as a Foreman grill and start eating a variety of fish every day (especially salmon, tuna and tilapia). Add a portion of brown or jasmine rice and some veggies to make an awesomely satisfying meal. :D

I hope you get your current workout and nutritional routine outlined so some of these experts can give you the help you seek with your goals. Good luck! :)
