What can I do?

First off I'll give a small intro about myself. I'm a 30 year old guy who has a very sedentary lifestyle and currently on Lamictal and Lexapro for depression and anxiety. I am currently 60 pounds overweight at 220 pounds. I need to be more around 160 for my height of 5'8".

Ok, so my biggest problem is that I get incredibly hungry. So then I eat. But no more than an hour later I am very hungry again. So basically I am stuck at my current weight because I can't eat less cause of severe hunger pains. What can I do? How am I supposed to lose weight if I'm hungry so often? How can I stop from being so hungry all the time?

Thanks.

Depends what you are eating. I eat high fat and high protein meals because they are slow digesting and therefor I don't have to eat as often. I still keep the total calories at a normal level. But, that's just what works for me.

Hi man, my names lewis steel. My profession is a personal trainer. I've come on here with a spare hour to see how many people I can help :)

If you were my client I would recommend that you change up the type of foods you eat, like gem suggested. The regularity with that you eat is of no huge issue to your weight. For example some of the people I help actually do eat once every hour because this fits their schedule.

If every time you eat you are consuming sugary and easy foods that is your issue. Sugar is designed to quickly be used by the body (either energy in exercise or stored as fat) so if you're not using it right away, it will turn to fat.

You need to gradually adjust to eating more wholesome foods. I would suggest starting with targeting breakfast as it's the easiest to change. I would advise something like porridge. This is very filling and should hold off many early morning cravings.

Furthering this the next this i think you should target is the late night cravings. This is where most people struggle. They're tired and worn out from the day... you just want something easy and quick to eat. Prepare for these feelings and cook something healthy before you are hungry, this makes it easier.

Then in doing this, the weight will drop off I promise you.

However if I never hear from you again I wish you the best of luck and sincerely hope you achieve your goal of loosing weight.

Best regards,
Lewis Steel

Hi Gem,
I too am on Lexapro for anxiety. You are hungry all the time probably because you are eating things with a lot of sugar or what is called "fast metabolizing carbohydrates or "fast carbs" checkout the chart attached. If you eat fast carbs they are converted to sugar quickly which raises you blood sugar level for a short time and metabolizes quickly. So your blood sugar level goes up and then down in a short amount of time. When your sugar level goes down you will feel hungry so eat more fast carbs and the cycle continues. To keep from feeling hungry eat slow carbs with a protein and eat every 2 hours (moderate portions) and see if you don't feel satisfied. I speak from experience as I lost 50 pounds and have kept most of it off.
Good Luck!
