What can I do to lose weight?

Hello everyone in this forum! I came here just so that I could ask for help on losing weight. I'm 14 years old and new to this forum. I feel pathetic. I can't do one push-up and I'm weak. My weight is about 140 lbs. Last summer, I played sports and was able to tone down a little bit. However, I'm not sure what to do really. Most of my fat is on my stomach (abs, core, etc) and my thighs (IMMENSE). I also don't have much stamina as I can't run at full speed (full speed is pretty slow) for no more than 30 seconds. I want to change myself but I don't know how. I play basketball so I was thinking I would just do ball-handling-vertical jump drills. I would stretch beforehand and do that. After doing the drills, I would run around my block. At home, I would do sit-ups/curl-ups/wall-sits. I want to know what else I can really do to help get weight loss all around my body especially the fat on the spots I talked about. I don't know what diet I should have (Eat breakfast, eat school lunch (optional/can just eat fruits and veggies with fat free milk, idk, Eat once I come home, dinner). I want to get stronger, faster, and better. I'm in the 9th grade and I feel so weak and pathetic. This is a long message but I hope to receive advice.

Welcome to the forum.

There is no reason for anyone to feel pathetic - weight control can be very tricky...

I think that your plan to do exercise is very good. Exercise is good for us all - and many of us fall into the habit of not doing nearly enough. Our bodies like exercise.

Be very wary of adverts where people promise all sorts of pills and magic potions to lose weight. All people really need is to eat healthy food - and that is the best way because it prepares you for the kind of food that you will keep on eating when your weight is what you aspire to.

You tell me your weight and your age - but do not mention your height... That is very important too.
It can be a good idea to check your BMI using a calculator designed for teenagers - because the calculations are a little different for youngsters... Here is one - but there are lots on the internet:

It would be a good idea to read the information about nutrition on the forum - because it is a good idea for us all (whether we need to lose weight or not) to eat healthily. If the calculation suggests that it would be healthy for you to lose some weight - that could be achieved by doing things like replacing treats with fruity snacks. Portion control can also be used for healthy weight loss.

Posting on the forum as you learn about nutrition. Some of the rules that make a food plan healthier can take will-power and it is nice if we are all being strong together.

Thank you so much for the information. I'm about 5 feet and maybe 5.5 inches. I've started counting my calories as I eat and drink. It's unbelievable how less I'm eating now that I'm counting calories! The only reason I feel pathetic was because people really bully me about it and when I'm in gym class, I'm the only one who's really not fit (exception of some people). People look down on me because of that I don't really want that. I don't know what specific food I could eat though.
My breakfast:
Whole Wheat Bread with Cream Cheese or Peanut Butter with Water
Bagel with Cream Cheese or Peanut Butter with Water
School Lunch:
Switched to salads, beans, etc with fruit and school milk
Afternoon Lunch/Snack: Two eggs and chocolate milk
Dinner: IDK but maybe some fruits.

Can anyone help me with that? Also I want to know some exercises either than the ones I said that will help reduce belly/abdominal fat and thigh fat. I still thank you for this information!

You know - often there are a lot of people thinking that they are the only ones that do not fit in... Life can be like that - and bullies thrive on it... Just a week ago I was talking to a girl I was at school with - and we both thought that we were the only ones being bullied...

Checking the BMI calculator it says that you are overweight. It will benefit you to eat a healthy diet and exercise - and quite probably that you will grow in height to wear your weight better.

Looking at your food plan - you have made a great start - you are being very self controlled - and you are not eating a lot of naughty snacks. Your school lunch switch was a great move.

Be sure to have a proper dinner with protein and vegetables each day - I'm sure your mother prepares such a meal - but if you are counting calories I am just making sure that you actually eat such a meal and do not cut calories by missing it.

I am sure that you will realise that some cream cheese is very high in calorie - and there are similar products which are low in fat and therefore much lower in calories - it is worth checking which one you are having.

Sometimes chocolate milk can be high in calories - but since you are counting calories we all deserve a treat.

One of the best all round exercises that a lot of people do not think of is walking... It doesn't cost anything and can be quite pleasant if the weather is nice... It doesn't even look like you are exercising... It was the main form of exercise that I used when I lost a great deal of weight 10 years ago. I lost weight from all over my body - where-ever I needed to lose weight... You are not stuck with exercising such as your tummy muscles if you want to lose fat from your tummy.
