What do you plan on eating/not eating for Valentine's day? Are you letting yourself indulge or still going to try to stick to your diet? Plan on cooking any meals for your loved one?

Just curious.. For me, we're going all out. He is taking me to (eep) my favorite Chinese Buffet and I am making him a 4 course home-made dessert! Definitely not diet-friendly but I am confident I can get back down within a couple weeks.

How about you? What're your plans?

Yeah, my wife and I are going to Maggianos (Italian restaurant in the US)... I is not super-fancy, but it was our first date over 10 years ago while we were in college, so it's sentimental. We will eat Gnocchi (not healthy), drink good wine (somewhat healthy), and most likely gain weight :)... but it's a speacial day (even if it's a 'hallmark' holiday, she enjoys it) and I want her to have fun. It will take me about a week to get back down after splurging that day.. but it's worth it... 4-course desert???? how is that even possible haha.. bananas fosters?

I am so jealous! I wish we had this restaurant in Canada. I went to it in Vegas in October and it was sooo good!!! I love Italian food and these people really know how to make it right!!! Enjoy!!

I'm hoping my husband buys me a little chocolate to indulge in. He knows I love it but he also knows I'm trying really hard right now so he might need a hint that I'll be okay with a small treat! He cooks me dinner every night (only because he's not working currently) so that wouldn't really be special. I know it's a silly hallmark holiday to him but I like the idea behind it so we usually do something to celebrate!

not sure what we are doign yet, but Valentines will be our 9th anniversary! So I'm sure we'll do something fun :)

We're celebrating early since my hubby works night shift and it just wouldn't be doable for him on a monday. I'm not sure what the hubby is planning but I'm making him breakfast in bed! Eggs, sausage, chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, cafe mocha, and mimosa! Clearly I'm the one on the diet here! lol. As for me, I'm going to make myself a couple of eggs, green tea and I may have a mimosa with my boy! As far as dinner goes, if he's not planning anything, I'll probably make salmon, steamed veggies and brown rice. We're pretty much homebodies when it comes to holidays and anniversaries. One of us usually cooks (generally me) and the other gets the beverages and he usually brings home flowers.

I forgot to mention, I bought a gorgeous breakfast in bed tray and a heart shaped pancake mold!

Good question.
I could be away at work so no set in stone plans. Plus the Mrs had a routine operation yesterday so I'm not sure about eating out.

In short.............I'm kind of stumped.

Well, for those of you tied down with work, you can always celebrate with your loved one even if it's not on the exact date! It's all about the love after all.

Sometimes V-day can be depressing for some, I can relate. When I was single, I'd celebrate the holiday anyway as a "I love myself and my family" kind of thing. Really helped cheer me and others up!

As for the dessert, it's nothing too special.. But there's going to be a lot. First up is my homemade Peanut Butter Cookies with strawberries and chocolate ontop. Second is my homemade heart-shaped spicey brownies with assorted toppings and a fudge filling. Then, of course, Assorted gourmet chocolate strawberries.. And some Fruit Kabobs with a side of whipped cream... Also going to be candy hearts and chocolate hearts with lots of wine..

Did I mention it's going to be a lot?

Hi!
I am not really sure what we're going to do for Valentine's. We had planned to go to South Padre Island to ride our bikes, eat breakfast, romantic (healthy) dinner and a movie afterward but it's too COLD right now! :banghead:

I guess we might stay home or venture to the caverns at San Antonio. We're not sure.. What can we do in Texas besides food and movies?

I am going to the Japanese buffet place with my gf tomorrow...lol..

It's ok for me though...I check my weight every day to make sure by the end of the week my weight stays the same...(I eat less and play tennis 2-3 times a week every week)

My favorite vday breakfast to make for my kids is this...

I make regular pancakes and a set of red pancakes (put red food coloring in) then I'll take a heart shaped cookie cutter and cut out a heart in the middle, then exchange the middles so that the white pancakes have red middles and the red ones have white heart shaped middles :)

My kids have always loved this

Aw this thread makes me sad, haha! I don't have a boyfriend or a husband.

I'll be spending the day on my own.....preparing an essay. I might treat myself to some ice cream and horror films. Oh the joys of being single!

Just finished baking! I ate SO much as it is haha, good stuff. But I've been doing good on my weight and weighed in at 125.5 today so I feel pretty good. We'll see what the scale says on Tuesday and Wednesday. :)

Well I ended up eating a LOT!! Also weighed in at over 130 this morning. So a 5 pound gain from v-day so far. I am confident that tomorrow when I get back on track within a month I'll have those pounds gone! That's why I only usually let myself pig-out every month or so.

How was your v-days?

Yeah, for sure! I am down to 127 today so far. Only a couple more pounds to go then I am back where I was. Overall, it wasn't as bad as I thought.
