What am I doing wrong?

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read this.

I’m currently just under 28 stone and seem to be stuck in a rut which I just can’t get my head around.

I’ve gone from eating ridiculously bad lunches, snacks all day, sneaky McDonald’s on the way home and even worse teas, to eating slimming world friendly lunches and teas with fruit for snacks. I’ve ditched the 4 or 5 takeaways a week for one small takeaway every weekend or every fortnight. I’ve gone from drinking 15/20 pints and a bottle of spirits to 3 or 4 (sometimes 0) bottles of lager a week. I’ve even cut coffee out to save on milk!

Then on top of that I’ve gone from walking less than 1500 steps a day to over 10,000 (sometimes up to 16,000). I’ve even started doing small bursts of jogging!

I lost roughly a stone in the first 3 weeks which I was pleased with. But in the 4th week, I’ve actually put weight on?!?! Nearly half a stone.

I just don’t understand how? What else can I do? Do you think it’s just a bad week and it’ll catch up next week? Feeling really demotivated seen as though I’ve got so long to go.

Hi, Heather. Well done on making the decision to take control of your health & well-being. Are you able to see a nutritionist? It's possible that you are not getting enough nutrition or the right nutrition.

Heather, there is not much info to go on here however one of the first things that come to mind is how does the weight gain fit in with the timing of your cycle ? hormones can have a big effect during weight loss.
 
Thanks both. I’ll check out those websites and the diary part of the forum and maybe repost in there.

In terms of my cycle, I’ve been super stressed at work for the last month, so I’m not sure what’s going on to be honest. Should have come on this last week but didn’t (and there’s no chance I could be pregnant). Probably happen later this week or next.
