Hi everyone,

I am new here and have joined because I just can't loose weight.

I feel like I am doing everything correct.

Let me give you a day in the life of.

I wake up at 7 am and have a big cup of coffee with skim milk and splenda.

At about 9 am I go to the gym and do one hour of intense cardio and interval training.

I come home and have a bowl of oats with skim milk and lots of water.

I prepare lunch, usually vegetables and a meat, chicken or fish.

In the afternoon I have a snack, usually some almonds or half a cup of strawberries or a small can of tuna.

For dinner, again, usually meat and veggies, or a soup with beans and meat.... I am trying to keep carbs low and proteins high .

This is the third week of eating and excercising almost every day and I have lost 1 kg, i mean I used to be able to loose weight much faster, I dont know if I am under eating. I try to eat something every 3 hours but I feel so disheartened and almost feel like whats the point.

I am not very overweight I just want to loose around 5 kgs for my friends wedding.

I am 27, female.

Thanks

Please help

The honest answer? Weight loss takes time. It really does. 1 kg down is a good thing! You are doing pretty much everything you are suppose to do.

The scale can be deceiving too. For example your body might be retaining fluid, which can add quite a few pounds or more. To fix this you should drink more water throughout the day, especially if you are doing an hour of intense cardio everyday. There are many factors at play though..rely more on the image in the mirror.

i would recommend that you keep track of your calorie intake using a free diet tracker, like fitday.com, for a week. this will give you an idea of how many calories you are actually consuming each day then you will know if you are eating too many or too little. the diet you mentioned above sounds quite low in cals, but without knowing portion sizes it's too hard to say.

also, have you noticed that your clothes are fitting looser even though your weight isn't going down? sometimes my weight stays the same on the scale, but i'm definitely losing body fat because my waist and thigh sizes are shrinking. just keep up the good effort at staying fit and eating a healthy diet and you should be able to reach your goal in no time.

Try eating your breakfast BEFORE you do your morning workout. Your body needs fuel to do a good workout, and by not eating you are essentially putting your body into crisis mode where it thinks it needs to store fat.

One of the ways sumo wrestlers pack on thier enourmous weights is exactly what you are doing. They wake up, go straight to a hard workout, then go eat a meal and relax (or take a nap). It's all backwards.

I also agree with the fitday tracking suggestion above. I did it for serveral months on my way to losing 80 pounds in 7 months. Track everything you put in your mouth and all or your workouts....it's really helpful.

Good luck. Keep working at it, you'll get it going soon enough.

I don't think you're doing much wrong - I think you have maybe some unrealistic expectations. You say that you're not much overweight, you just want to lose about 5kg (about 12 lbs).

An average rate of weight loss is about 1% of your bodyweight per week, if you're being healthy and reasonable about it. You don't say how much you weigh now, but if you're in the low to mid 100s, you probably will only lose about 1lb per week - which is right on target for what you're doing.
