What am I doing wrong?

I started a weight loss plan with a goal in mind of 14 pounds, 3 weeks ago. I am 5'9" and started at 146 pounds. After my first week, the scale read 142, which is a lot of weight, which I assumed meant mostly water. But I weighed in again this week at a loss of zero pounds. My diet did not alter at all. Along with this diet plan, I should note, I started going to the gym 5 days a week, up from zero days a week. My concern is that I am not eating at the right times, or eating the right foods. I keep telling myself that due to the increase in exercise, it could be muscle weight gained, while fat weight was lost.
I am utilizing a website called my-calorie-counter.com to track my daily intake. I am averaging around 1300 calories. I am hungry constantly, even after dinner which tends to pack a little more "meat" than my other meals.
I eat FiberOne cereal mixed with fat free yoplait yogart cup for breakfast. I do not eat breakfast until about 8:30am though, and on days that I go to the gym at 5:00am, that means I have been up and moving nearly 4 hours before eating (I am told I should eat something right after exercising. I just can't bring myself to do it, because of the calories - understanding I will be starving by my normal breakfast time). At late morning I eat either a cup of blueberries, a pomegranate or grapefruit (no protein - I assume that's why it doesn't fill me up). At lunch I have a deli turkey sandwich on wheat bread with mustard and about 2 servings of frozen veggies (green beans, peas, mixed veggies, etc). For an afternoon snack I eat a serving of cottage cheese and some celery. I have dinner - which is made at home and usually a chicken based dish/stew - little to no oil, light on the bread/rice and no cheese. I try to keep a tight lid on dinner, because I live with someone who isn't mindful of fat and calories and wants flavorful yummy dinner.
I have a snack before dinner - I don't know if this is hurting me. It's usually either a sugar free pudding cup or one cup of special K and a 1/2 cup of skim milk (I measure it).
my exercise is simple. I walk for 30 minutes at 4.0 MPH, at a 5% incline. I jog the last 10 minutes at 6MPH, with a 5 minutes cool down period. The machine says i burn about 450 calories, but I know they are a little skewed. I usually try to add a few reps on the weight machines either on legs or arms, if I have time. I go to a power yoga class once a week.

Am I missing something?!??! Why am I not losing weight?

to me its looks like you are on the right track there.
Try to reduce the intake of meats at dinner times and shift them to either morning or lunch times.
I would also suggest taking green tea, and cooking your food in olive oil.
Extra virgin if you can find it, or virgin to the least... dont get the refined one.
And beleive me, some of it really must be converting to muscle !
Have patience friend... you ll get through just fine !
I can even see you at 110 pounds three months from now !

There's really no health difference between cooking in extra virgin olive oil as opposed to virgin olive oil or other refined olive oils.

i dunno mate.. i tend to lean towards the extra virgin olive oil..
its a fact, the more the human tamper with something, the more fattening it becomes...

Thanks, I will try shifting meats around!

I am still concerned with eating a late night snack. what's the real deal - is it bad to eat late at night, or good? so much is focused around metabolism's slowing at night, but some reports say its good to give your body some fuel through the sleeping hours?
Anyone know?

Champ47, I'm in the same boat! I've been trying to lose 15 pounds for 6 weeks with no luck! I eat around 1200 calories a day for the last 6 weeks and have only been exercising for about 1 1/2 weeks. I just had a baby 8 weeks ago and I'm not nursing. I started eating 1200 calories about 2 weeks after I gave birth and got clearance to start exercising about 2 weeks ago. I eat protein, dairy & fiber for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For example, I'll have 2 egg whites with a piece of cheese in between 2 pieces of wheat bread for breakfast. I'll have a piece of fruit for a snack. I'll eat salad with 3oz of tuna and cheese with a splash of balsamic vinegar for lunch, another piece of fruit for snack. For dinner a lean meat or fish with a salad and vegtable and fiber 1 cereal or a piece of fruit for my last snack. I do about 20-30 minutes of cardio a day, about 200 sit-up and 10 minutes of pilates. I should have been back in my size 2 pants 4 weeks ago. Why am I not losing weight! The scale will not budge. I can't fit into any of my clothes and I have to go back to work in 3 weeks! I even take 2oz of acai puree a day. I'm 5'4" and normally weigh between 112-115 pounds. This is my second child and I lost the weight after my first child but can't seem to lose the weight after my second child. HELP!! Anyone out there have any suggestions? I'm so frustrated and I'm getting a bit depressed. All I want is to fit back into my clothes and feel normal again. Also, any clue as to why with this diet I'm not losing anything. I don't really think decreasing my calories is healthy. Should I be increasing my exercise? Thank you!

All olive oils generally have the same proportion of monounsaturated fats. When heated to high temperatures, the flavour of extra virgin olive oil tends to break down, which is why it's recommended to use lesser grades. The grades aren't based on health, but on flavour.

That's not to say cooking with EVOO is bad. But saying that it's objectively healthier to cook with than other olive oils is pretty much false. Unless we're talking lampante oil :D

I think the olive oil won't make a big change. You have to check your meal plan and make sure you have enough protein for all the three meal time.
