Hi, I am new to the forum. First off I am 5'3 and I weigh 172 as of tonight. For the past month or so give or take a few days. My husband and I go to the gym every night. I do the elliptical machine for 30-45 minutes while fluctuating the resistance. and then i do 15 minutes of small weight lifting. We are on a diet, I am eating alot of veggies, and protein and drinking water. After the first two weeks I got down to 169 lbs. (keep in mind that weight was from 3 days ago. And tonight I am back to my original starting weight. But my husband has dropped 13 lbs. (he is also double my size though, not sure if that makes a difference) Is there something more I should be doing? Is there something I am doing wrong?? Please help, I am starting to think I will never lose this weight.

Welcome to the board and good luck with reaching your goals. Have you read the sticky threads yet. They contain a lot of good and useful info.

Are you counting calories? Are you measuring and weighing everything to control your portions? I know one thing i have been doing lately is eating the right foods but the wrong amount and it is driving up my calories.

Finally, dont compare your weight loss to your husband's. People lose at different rates. This can only lead to frustration and get you off track.

There are a lot of people on this forum that now their stuff. Dont be a stranger.

you didn't gain the weight overnight, you aren't going to lose it overnight... Consistency in realistic habits are what are going to get you the results you want.

Your husband lost 13lbs - you said he's more than twice your size - that's expected -why compare yourself to him? What does that get you?

Take measurements
Keep track of what you're eating
Change your habits that will take you where you want to be and keep you there for the rest of your life -in other words - ditch the diet mindset
And read the stickies around the forum... there's a lot of good information that will help you

trends in weight are what you'll notice over time - you've not even been tracking for a month -that really tells you about how your body reacts- Weight gains and losses can be caused by anything and really doens't have a whole lot to do with fat loss...

Is that a broken record I hear?:svengo:

Just kidding. Good advice, as always :blush5:

yes i pay attention to calories, but i also dont even eat 3 meals a day i usually eat about 4 to 5 small things a day. for example for breakfast i will have a bowl of cereal(multi grain cheerios) and a few hours later for a brunch type thing i will have a small salad and a half a sandwhich. I eat small thing like that through out the day.

So i basically need a new tune is what you're saying :)

Ok

Welcome to the forum :) much success on your journey..

I think a new tune that resembled the Jerrasic Park sound track would have been more fun.:blush5:

But I do appreciate a person such as yourself who is full of lots of knowledge, and sarcastic humor.

most people just think i'm full of shit :)

:p Which is funny because most people who think so digest more in a day than you do.:puke:

I'm just playing with you Mal. I'm very glad to have someone so dedicated to this stuff in the forum.
