Okay, I know that alcohol is diet sabotage; it's why I am in the position to hurry and get in shape by summer! I am cutting down to just the weekends, but sometimes special occassions come up during the week, or co-workers want to go out. I know to compensate for calories, and usually will only eat a chicken salad if I'm drinking. I hear that red wine has health benefits if drank in one or two glasses. If I compensate for calories, is the alcohol still total diet sabotage even in moderation? I usually drink whiskey and water or wine. As you can tell by my name, this is my weak spot.
 
total calories in the day are what matter...

as long as you aren't getting tanked then eating everything in site - enjoy it...
 
Yeah it’s usually the munchies that get me however even that isn't catastrophic if it's not an every day occurrence. I avoided alcohol in the beginning but I have it every weekend now and most of the time I munch too. I figure if I'm eating 500-700 below maintenance Mon-Thu a few days of being a glutton is fine. I don't know that I'd do it if I was trying to lose fat but I'm at my goal weight so now my week day deficit is purely to make room for weekend partying. It works for me as long as I'm not too hungover to resume working out Mon morning.

BTW check out 5 Rivers if you like cabernet and Jake's Fault if you like shiraz, at $9-10 a bottle both are really good. Keep in mind an entire .750l bottle of red wine is roughly 625 calories so even if you down two it's like eating a Whopper :party:.
